if ya got drums u should always chop on there, it all depends on if ur trying to sample phrases or individual sounds, the best thing to do after u put a record on is listen to it while ur rippin it, then decide after ur done if ur gonna chop up sounds or sample phrases or even loops, then you'll know exactly what ur doin, u almost never want a kick or a snare in the middle of the sample tho, either chop so the drums at the beggining or chop where there are no drums

if youre just tryin to loop somethin do it every bar, if youre tryin to get more finite points and you wanna go crazy on a sample just chop at the beginning of every sound and where it changes

Heres what i do:

+Open the file your gonna chop.
+Then move the sensitivity bar to a good area where it looks like it seperates the parts u want reasonably well.
+Then click where the triangles are connected to the slices.
+Next click ctrl+A and this will highlight all the slices.
+Now right click on one of the triangles at the top of one of the slices and choose hidden.
+After theyre all hidden click in that area again to deselect all the slices.
+Now listen to the file as a whole and asses where you feel the slices should go.
+As u decide where to put the appropriate slices youl find that most of the work has been done for you by the sensitivity bar so then you can just un-hide the slices that u feel are worth keeping.
+A couple nudges here and there for some of the slices that are a tad off and yer straight.

One last thing though....I always leave the Stretch feature OFF. I dont like the crappy sound it gives the slice at the end. Of course thats entirely up to u.

Hope that helps some bit?

If you're chopping where ever the hell you want then leave bar at 1. You can change the tempo in Reason to fit how you play your chops.

Sometimes I'll use the sensitivity if it's convenient. Most of the time I just go in and chop then click on the chop a couple times to hear if it's precise then move my chop point accordingly. Use your ears, if it sounds right then it must be right!

For the stretch option click on the preview toggle first, it's next to the stop button. Then just turn the stretch knob to 0%. Sometimes stretch is useful though, like for strings, it's real nice, but that's up to your ears.
