Does anyone know if the Audigy 2 Platinum has built in phantom power for Condensor Mics? I know that there is some type of power, but I'm not sure if it's 48 V.

Hey,

Seriously doubt it. As a matter of fact, I would bet my car that it doesn't have phantom power.

Yeah, I pretty much figured that .. damn .. I don't want to be shelling out a $100 just to make my mic work (I'm not doing any serious recording with it right now) ... anyone know if there are some wackass cheap quality mixers out there that have phantom power? I don't care if it's bashed-in piece of shit, I just want to be able to power a mic. The phantom power standalone things are too expensive.

I e-mailed Creative and they claim that the Audigy and the Live sound cards both contain phantom power - you have to physically take out a jumper or something (I don't know the details), but apparently the details are in the manual that comes with the soundcard. So for anyone out there with one of these Creative Soundcards, looks like you have all the power you need to hook up a condesor mic (although I think you need a converter to be able to plug it in).
