WU if you have the producer edition and an asio audio card, and I think some other cards are supported, you will see Inputs and outputs on the mixer in fruity loops, you can choose that and you can record audio in....you use this sort of like a sampler.....also if you load a wave sample to a track just click on the sample and then the property page for the sample will pop up.
Go to the dropdown menu and choose edit sample, the editor is nice, you can do a lot of the basics needed on the fly to process or slice the sample.

So, this is proof not too many read the articles at the at the main page at Illmuzik, but anyway not too many people know Fl studio's hidden wave editor thats inside, whenever you open a sample hold ctrl+e and it will open, but it wont on empty channels, but this is something that's got some bugs to work out and I am sure pretty soon there'll be another release to fix it, although you can record with this editor, but it is more for smaller recordings like "eh yo" or "keep it funky" so you can record but use at your risk.... better yet, if haven't upgraded to producer edition that has the wave editor I suggest you go to www.goldwave.com and get their free software, you can use this to record your vocals, and you'll have way more editing options than the fl wave editor.

Ps. just to let you know, the mic up top underneath the piano\keyboard icon, if this is what you're looking at, so you wont be confused - its representing the metronome, not a mic
