i think you need to chop up your sample using recycle.

let me know if ive misunderstood you

Yea, that would work, but i think he has to use redrum and nnxt. Isn't Recycle for Dr Rex? I wish I could help you out, but I'm still learning as well. Good luck.

it sounds like you arent tuning the sample to the specific key on the sampler, bottomleft knob under the nnxt screen, turn it till it corresponds with the key that you are assigning the sample to....

just make sure the samples are prprerly chopped to the right bpm as well....

my bad i was just goin off not even knowin wat i was typin ok this is the problem when i load the samples on the keys and set it to loop its a little off i'm jus used to usin fl where u can set the sample length wit time stretch so this is goin to take some practice to see how i can get them to loop right. the second problem is when i press they key on the keyboard the sample plays and then fades out i'm thinkin that just changin the sustain and release will solve this if there is a different way i would need help on that because i think i'm setting them too high so when i let go of the key it loops but it goes down in sound quality like its not as strong as when i first pressed the key. and lastly the manual says u can set up somethin i think to the effect of key zones where u can have different samples mapped to different keys i've tried to do it but i can never select more than one sample i did a search and a while back someone said hold control and u can select them all and load them on the keys but it didn't work when i tried. i think i understand the other aspects of the program or can find ways to get around em in the project but i really needed help on this part. we rewired reason to pro tools so we can either use the sequencer in reason and send that single file over to protools or just send each track over to pro tools seperatly(redrum one track, subtractor another etc...) it's jus that our teacher let us loose and said use the manual because it could tell us more about the program than he could he's used to pro tools and logic guess reason is a course requirement or somethin but i knew alot of heads on the board use reason and since the manual didnt help i'm thinkin i can get some help from the community. i hope this is clearer the project is due monday so i will b in the lab a couple hours tryin to figure this thing out. good looks for the help yall

as i said, tuning knob... and to assign keys you gotta highlight THE INDIVIDUAL SAMPLE in the sampler....then you will get a bar spanning the key range you then manually pull both end of the sample bar together so the bar is then just a,well small bar assigned to one key, default, middle C. then you can either assign the key you want by turning the tuning knob to say c sharp etc...there are other ways to this, but this i think is the most simple.... then, and only then, when ONE sample is assigned to the key, can you select it and copy and paste it....

also good tip for a perfect timestrech.....find out how long 4 bars is in time for your bpm, ie set the bpm to what you want set then end marker to 4 bars save it, close it, reopen it, and see how long it is, presto...for example of the top of my head 98BPM = 9.79 secs over 4 bars hence a sample that is one bar long will be 2.4475secs. PERFECT TIMESTRECH everytime......

BEAT u DOWN

Yea as Haze said its really not too hard I do basically what he described but depending on what type of beat im gonna be doin sometimes I Leave a Sample with a Key Range of Say C to E So If im workin with stabs or some chops I got them at a Few Octaves.

After I got all my Samples set up in the NNXT I then move them all the way to the Left side of the Keyboard and got them all in order spanning sometimes only a Few keys or sometimes almost the whole Keyboard (49 keys Suckass!) anyways hope that helped a bit

Firstly again id say check that you got your samples chopped accurately, trying to get it to loop the way you want it without having it chopped properly will be headache. Ive done this maself a couple times.

Assuming youve got the samples chopped properly then you might need to simply adjust the tempo to get it to loop right.

Or i guess you could timestretch the sample to fit your tempo. I dont really know much about that but haze's explanation seems to make sense for that solution.

you should go back n keep trying now that you dont have the pressure of the project weighing on you.

Is it just getting it to loop properly that was the problem?? Cos another thing might have been if the time signature from your sample wasnt matching the time signature in reason 4/4 or 3/4 or whatever it may be.
