reason sequencing

im not sure if it was on this board but i might of already posted this i couldnt find it so im gunna post it,i was wondering if their was a way to sequence the vocals in reason instead of bringing your final mix into a multitrack sequencer and doing it there,it would be much easier to drop the vocals in the reason sequence and put yur sounds and chorus lines around the vocals then dropping the vocals on a multitrack recorder over the beat then having to go back into reason and change things around so they go with the vocals, know whut i mean

I don't know if there is an easy way to do this, I mean you would have to have the vocals pre recorded and maybe if you got say just a drum track or loop you can do it outside because everything will be synced up..unless you can do an accapella on point without a beat.....but if you went thru the trouble to multitrack outside of reason for just vocals and the drum track you might as well do all of it there in the outside piece of software but if you bring a wave file in to on of the samplers or the drum machine you can then put it into the multitrack and arrange it....now fruity loops producer edition lets you record live into a track I don't know about reason....Imma newbie myself to that piece of software..

You can cut up the vocals into wav samples and trigger them from the NN-19.

That will make your files really big when you turn them into rps files and include all the samples outside of the standard Reason libraries.

I think that's the only negative thing I can find about Reason. Maybe in version 3 thay can put something in to capture audio like vocals or live instruments to lay over the rest of the mix but that might eplain why so many people don't use Reason.

I was wondering what the reason could be for not including this feature, but then I realized how easy it is to send a Reason file to someone to listen to in their program since it doesn't include large audio data like vocals and live recording. So when you go to the propellerhead site, you can download hundreds of projects cuz the files are rarely over a couple hundred k's where as a Logic or Cubase project will be several megs due to all the extra audio recorded.

First, the thread you're referring too is:
https://www.illmuzik.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=2378&highlight=reason+vocals

Secondly, if I understand you correctly, the answer is no, this can't be done in Reason.
Today, I use Cool Edit Pro or ProTools to mix each track incl. vocals down but I've tried with both Fruity and Reason back before I had these other programs. Then, I just recorded the beat to CD, played it from CD via headphones and the rapper/singer just recorded it into my PC using SoundForge. Then I just added the vocals to a track in Reason using the NN-19 (today, the NN-XT would probably be better).

well if u didnt want to do all that u can plug sum headphones into yur computers speaker output have the rapper monitor the beat from there and just record his input vocals, thats pretty much what i do except my spekers have a headphone jack so i can just plug into there and i split the signal so i can plug in to sets of headphones cuz i like to monitor whats goin on myself too you know

I couldn't do what you just said on my old pc, but on my new one I can just play the beat in Reason whilst recording the vocals in SoundForge or Cool Edit Pro...that's an option too, then just add the wav track in Reason afterwards...

maybe I missed something but why don't you just use rewire to run the reason sequence inside of Cubase or Sonar if you have access to these programs, I'm not sure if rewire works in cool edit pro. This would be a lot cleaner that what you guys suggested above, I don't use Reason but a friend of mine does and he runs his setup like this all the time.

then you would be able to record your vocals within the multrack recorder and with better flexibility and power.

I agree with Copenhagen you can't do it..

What I would do is do everything in reason and mix out to wave a wave file. Then drop t your vocals and the wave file to sonar/vages/cubase/logic and edit..

yeah jamcity is on point. export your track to a .wav file then just load it into aprogram with a sequencer [i use logic] and start recording vocals over top of it. If u dont have a program w/ a sequencer just get pro tools free.

ps - it can be done its just not practicle , and it will most likely be off beat, and it will sound like shit.
