Reason questions

Alright well I'm giving this Reason thing a shot. I'm coming from using an mp1000 so bear with me if some of these questions are noobie-ish.

First off what's the best way to go about programming triplet notes? I'm really confused with the resolution thing inside the Redrum machine. When I change it to 1/8(3) or 1/16(3) the steps on the sequencer stay the same, but the speed just seems to increase. It seems that it's just uppin the tempo and not really doing what I want it to do.

Also, how can I add swing to something in NNXT? It doesn't seem that there's a button for me to do this with.

Lastly a small kinda annoying thing...how do I turn off the default song from starting everytime I open the program? Not really a big deal or anything but I kinda wish that I could have it open as a clean sheet and not have to open new and close the default song every time..

Well looks nice so far. A lotta potential with this app. Thanks for all the replies, and, stay busy!

k.. as far as the default template thing.. u shoulda read the directions. That might have answered ALL your questions. go to the prefences menu, and at the bottom where it says "default template.rns" or whatever, just change that to empty rack, or redirect it to a project file of your own to use as a template.

swing in the nnxt... well ur playing it with ur hands on the keyboard so if ur not getting any swing then i dont know what you are doing. But, you can have autoquantize on, by clicking the bottom to the left of the quantize field in the sequencer window. and have quantize set to user. OR u can have the quantize at 1/16 default and in the lil drop down menu to the right of the quantize drop down thats the swing. (its prolly at like 50% on default) u can change that to whatever u want.

As for the redrum thing.. What you are doing is changing the time signature, its doing what u want it to do, u just dont know what to look for. You prolly want it to increase the number of buttons u have, so u can add drum hits in between spaces (like between 1 and 2).. but no.

Its increasing in "speed" cuz instead of adding EXTRA buttons, its using the buttons is has to do what u want. So in turn u have to adjust ur drums hits accordingly. Like adjust the digital timeframe from 16 to 64, then adjust ur drums hits on all the patterns. 1-16, 16-32, 32-48, 48-64.

If you are super new then you will have no idea what im talkin about, that and im tired as hell.. but hope i helped and read them directions

alright, I'm understanding everything except for the part in nnxt. I know about adjusting the quantize settings and whatnot but I don't think it really applies to what I'm doing since I'm not using a keyboard or anything just doing all the editing with the mouse. thanks anyhow.

oh, but I was just wondering if there was a shuffle button for nnxt that I was maybe missing, like how they got it in Redrum. anyways I will be looking into getting a controller soon as soon as I get this money up..

I'm still not getting how to do triplet notes though, should I just do it in the main sequencer part in the edit screen instead of in the Redrum machine itself? well I'll just fuck around with it a little more I guess, thanks for the replies.
