HERE ARE MY GRIPES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ONE THING: for those who thank their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after a performance/album/award/etc.... when your entire album/set is all thugged out and your lyrics do nothing to represent the God you are giving thanks to, why are you doing that? this really, REALLY bothers me. i know none of us are perfect... and i know i may say things that are out of line with my personal faith, or even do things- but it really is rediculous when these cats like tonight, this guy i used to work with, gave a very gangstafied performance and then invited everyone about the after party that includes strippers and porn............how does that work, exactly? its one thing when you may do things in private, but to say all these things within several minutes of each other, publicly.... and although i am a christian and do have my viewpoints regarding other religions, this goes for those of other beliefs as well... how can any of us get up on stage and represent this whole persona and spread things that are completely against your so-called belief? that leaves people thinking that it is ok to have it both ways, that thats "just being real".... and yes, i know that this is rampant among politicians (bush being one of them...) and all over the media and other venues as well.

TWO: in other sites- not this one, it hasnt really come up- when i talk about my faith it gets criticized and there is always some reference to what so and so did and people try to dispute my faith- but the few times i have shared my faith- when i say share, i mean SHARE, not force it down everyones throats- i have always been mocked and dissed and whatever, and while i have respect for what other people feel and think and believe, i find it somewhat disturbing that while there are many things that i find offensive that others will say, my mentions of God have usually become fodder for everyone else's personal grudge against Christianity... and that seems to be ok.

that being said, i am not here to "bible thump" or convert people, but i will share things from time to time, and as i said thus far i have not encountered anything like the other sites, but i am kind of waiting for it...... anyhw i just wanted to be a little vocal about this topic, because i dont want to wind up arguing woth anyone over it... dont know why but that is what is on my mind.

1: I always wondered what a "true" christian would make of that. I happy to know that, I'm not hatin' when I think they are fools.

2: I beleive in nothing and I wish I beleive in something, sometimes it would all make more sense. That being said, you can beleive what you want and that's ok with me. If you don't get preachy, it won't bother me. I think people that get ironic on you or make jokes about your faith are just not confortable with their atheisme. If anybody attack you on the sole purpose of your faith, I'll defenitly lost a bit of respect for him.

1-So true! But not just those that have thugged out lyrics and styles, then thank God, but any artist in general. I think most people thank God because they feel that's what they're supposed to say since so many other people have done it.

2-Religion is a touchy subject, and I have some beliefs, but I don't believe in everything in religion. The one thing I do hate is those that go knocking on people's doors trying to throw the bible down my throat! This happened to me a few weeks ago, I was going outside for a minute and these 2 guys are like "Hi", so I'm like "Hey wassup", and then he starts telling me that Jesus is here to save me and it would be a shame if I didn't open my eyes and face my devils (or something like that). LOL, I mean, c'mon man leave me alone, I don't even know you!

YEAH... i get you on that second one fade. actually, my church does that door knocking thing, (actually i am supposed to be out there with them... i feel bad now) but we do it very differently. its a program called "adopt-a-block" - our church is right in the ghetto. we have had many oppurtunities to move into "better" areas but our pastor feels that, what better place to be than in the heart of the city, where the struggle is? the bible calls the church the "restrainer", the thing that keeps Satan from REALLY running rampant, and thats what we choose to be.

anyhow, "Adopt-A-Block" is a program where we have teams of us go to three different Blocks, and knock on peoples doors, and just ask them what we can do FOR THEM. heck, we arent evenALLOWED to talk to them about Jesus. If someone asks, we can give them answers, but we really arent there to convert or "save" anyone. really, truthfully, we are there to LOVE them and SERVE them, regardless of themselves. you need weeds pulled? we pull weeds. you need groceries, birthday cake for your kid? we'll get it. you need your house painted? roof leaking? floor waxed? whatever it is, we find a way to accomadate these people the best we can. my pastor will not allow the newspapers to take pictures or cover us as a "story"..... because we are just there to be of some assistance. we have had some people give their lives to Christ because of this, but i guarantee you that it wasnt because someone knocked on their door and said "do you know jesus as your lord and saviour?" it was because someone came to their door, A STRANGER, and asked what can be done to make their life a little easier.

as far as your first one, yeah your right. it's very cliche nowadays.. but when i win my GRAMMY for song of the year, poducer of the year, WHATEVER, (it WILL HAPPEN!!) i will thak God for it, but if my lifestyle and my content do not show him through and through, i would do nothing but embarass myself, my church, and ultimately Christians themselves by it, and offend those people a great deal. believe it or not, there ARE many Christians out there that arent arrogant or hateful because you do not share that belief. but i think that street evangelism has a rightful place, but the results arennt very favorable, statistics wise...most people just get mad andwant them to leave, so how a bout a different approach?

oh yeah my church is also giving monthly Child Support checks to every single mom that is a member. we are also paying off the credit card debts of every member and in 4 years we will begin to pay off the mortgages of every member, the idea here is that the less bills we have to pay the more resources we have for ministries....

hey i appreciate the nature of those responses, i was actually a bit nervous (this is a touchy issue, after all.) about the way it was recieved.

Religion is really the most touchy subject around.
I personally have no religious beliefs. My opinion, from being taught christianity in school and reading about other religions, is that most of them actually go strongly against our evolution and preach that we shoudn't be a developed as we are.
Also, difference in religion has been the source of so much horror, wars etc...to the point where I almost find strong religious beliefs scary, threatening.
Perhaps, if there is a God, God didn't intend it for me to understand why...but all the negative things in the world etc just doesn't seem logical if there was a God.
This is just my opinion, I respect yours Truth Told and I will never hate or diss a guy just because of his religious beliefs...that's not up to me or anyone else.

hmmmmm...... if it makes you happy, sure!!! nah... i think there are a few things we cant do.... i'm not sure, its not lik we have a handbook, but i think that might be one of them!! if you need your trash taken out and your dishes washed, i think that we can accomodate you there.....

Speaking on Truths original thread...I feel like this, those that are all thugged out ARE justified by giving thanks to God because he gave them what they have. God teaches us that the road to heaven is a straight and narrow path yet on the other hand, I feel that SOME God is better than NO God in whatever situation you're in. That doesn't mean that they are on the right path. It only means that they are acknowledging his presence in their work. Giving credit to God won't get anyone into heaven or there would be only 1 commandment and this whole religion thing would be easy. So, my props go out to those who do acknowledge him even if what they say in their songs don't agree with him. I leave the judgement on that left up to the judge of judges.

TWO: We know which site is the ILLEST. Everyone will have their own opinion about your beleifs. Don't sweat it. The important thing about what you believe in is that you are searching to know God and you do believe in something. Just about all religions have different beliefs but the end result is the same in most of them.

I give props to you for starting this thread because just by bringing religion up opened the opportunity for attacks on your beliefs. Just remember, everyone will have an opinion and its OK to disagree.

One thing that I've always said to people about God, is that it's not necessarily a "he" or "she". People say God is this and God is that. Of course none of us know, but God very well could be a big ball of energy. God could be the sun for all we know! lol. I don't know why I'm bringing this up, but yeah I just did.

yeah, i feel you dac. it's just that everything i keep learning - a lot, the last few years, actually, tells me that these guys arent really sincere. it really isnt about getting to heaven, and while its great the they acknowledge God's gifts to them, they arent exactly using those gifts FOR him exclusively. the bible, which is something that God wrote, not man-(i could go on for days on this one. thats an entire subject on it's own, and yes i realize that there are many who disagree, but it has been established what my faith is based on, and i feel free to express my views as facts within my faith, and if any of you happen to disagree, thats cool.) but the Bible says that you will know who men serve by their fruits, and the fruits of many of these people show every bit the contrary to their thankfulness. i do not judge THEIR SOULS but the Bible allows me to judge them by their fruits. (again, i could go on here.) therefore, i cannot give props to something that is an offense to God. (again, just so you know, i speak from the Bible, not my own words. i cannot argue a truth that i do not know from that and that alone.)

that doesnt mean i think that they will or should burn in hell- that really comes down to what takes place between them and God.

anyhow..... as far as Fades whole God as He/she comment, let me explain: every god in every religion has certain charachteristics, dominion, authority, etc.... for instance polytheists (believers in many gods) generally have specific gods for different things, i.e., rain, war, fertility, etc. as far as Christianity, God refers to himself as the Father, and Christ was male, and Christ was fully man and fully God. of course God doesnt even have a name that we can refer to him, so what makes us think we can define him by gender? really any word that we use to describe him falls far short... and that is why he refers to himself as I Am.

hahaha, you're right bro, this can go on and on. In my faith, the bible was written by man but inspired by God, hence the different books of the bible { Mark, Mathew, Luke blah blah blah }. Now this is just my opinion so please don't get me wrong...WE ALL WERE a disgrace and fell short the glory of God, until Jesus died for our sins which gave us a chance to redeem ourselves. I'm sure that you know the story of the other 2 guys that were crucified with Jesus. One confessed his sins and the other one didn't. The one that confessed his sins was a sinner all of his life but he was forgivened. My point is this...there's hope for all, the key is what we do to get ourselves right with God. I have no clue to how this thread will turn out but I too understand your rant on this subject. I think its a great topic. Once again, please don't get me wrong, these are just my beliefs and opinions. I'm not trying to change yours and you never said that I was, for all I know, I could have it all backwards { crossing my fingers that I don't...} but anyway, I'm feeling this thread.

I totally agree on what you said about it being between them and God. He will have the final word.

One more thing, no we don't know for sure what gender God is but he gave us a good hint when he said that he created MAN {Adam} in his image.

I believe in Christianity.
