Yes yes, it is true, the greatist lyricists the hip hop game has ever witness is about to release his recent output to date on the aftermath label. The album drops this summer and is set to change the hip hop game just as paid in full did back in the 80's. With Rakim's wit and mind tingering lyrics and Dr dre's A class beats, we can be guaranteed of a classic album!

Finally! I've been waiting on this album, but I've always been wondering how he'll sound over Dre's beats. I hope Dre actually PRODUCES Rakim (make beats that will fit his style), not just letting Rakim rap over any beat.

That's what happend last time Rakim did an album...The 18th letter was like him rapping over anything and That's one of the reason that album didn't do too well

Well on 18th Letter, there were some dope tracks on there which I was really feelin' but yeah I know, it's like he was rapping over whatever was given to him.

well you know how dre is.....dre makes beat for the artist. Eminems beats fit eminem when dre does them and 50 cent beats fit 50's style when dre does them so im sure that dre will make songs that fit Rakim i mean look at the song he did with truth hurts.....that was tuff and dre's hands were all over it, messin wit dre its bound to be a classic cause dre has a name to uphold and he's not gonna have his name on any ::flops::(projects that dont do well)

K.O : Dre has become more of a "supervisor " than a producer since he hires musicians, Mel Man does the programming and that he buys "pre-made beats" from unknown producers....so saying that Dre's hand was all over the projects you mentioned would be exagerated... concerning the new Rakim album, I've heard that Dre only chose "east coast" style beats for it .... let's wait and see

peace,

yet and still wheather he is making the beats or buying them he is going to make sure they are right so he's of course going to make his changes and add and subtract things where needed. Dre's name on a project spells success usually....thats the point i was making cause im sure all the sh*t eminem produces dre listens to it all and gives his thumbs up and speaks his mind on what he thinks it should sound like

Sampling to me is using what's come out of some one elses head not your own. Be creative and use your own skills! it's more satisflying in the long run.

yeah -- i bet this project will turn out much better than people expect -- aftermath/shady/interscope has had a successful way of doing that -- as mentioned -- i'm sure rakim's tracks will be tailored towards his style -- we shall soon find out

I actually liked 18th Letter. I thought it was well put together and I blame the lack of success on the fact that Ra was out-the-game for quite sometime. The tracks seemed to fit him very well in my opinion, Anyway, I'm glad that he's back! I too am concerned with Dre producing him, I just can't picture West Coast Production mixed with East Coast Lyrics...???? I'm thinking that the two won't mix very well. Time will truely tell.

I'm sure (I hope) that Dre will take Rakim's 'roots' into consideration.

NOW I LOVE RAKIM.... BUT I'VE HEARD HE HAS A POOR WORK ETHIC.... HE'S JUST A REAL STREET SOLDIER... BUT DRE BEHIND HIM SO WILL SEE...
