Sup people,

can somebody enlighten me on the difference between an album vs LP(in 2009). Is it number of songs? or playing time? or something else?

As most of you know im releasing my Nicholas Kopernicus project in a month or so and i dont know if i should market it as an LP , album or whatever.. My project has 11 songs and a run time of 42min,

It seems like the terms are pretty interchangeable these days, maybe im missing something..

Enlighten me...

An LP (Long Play) is basically an album. An EP (Extended Play) is more of a mini album.

What you're doing is an album or LP. The 45 min mark was for long play records and doesn't matter anymore. It had to do with groove length of the records and how shitty or how good it sounded, because the quality of the grooves in the vinyl indicated the type of sound. LP's sounded shittier than pressed singles because the grooves were squashed together on the LP, which didn't sound as good on a gramophone/record player/shit that we don't use anymore.

Just an opinion: consider making hot singles versus an album and release one single every month. It keeps people interested, it's easier on your budget. Be aware that the market is changing.
