Im not sure if this is the right place to post this question...

But, i just got actually into making beats about 3 weeks/or less ago, but i can never seem to get an actual rap beat down. Like somthing you can freestyle to. I alaways manage to make these, soul beats I guess you could call them. it's always like an dark/mellow type of vibe.

How would I go about making an actual banga type beat..like what type of melody, synths, etc.

im using FL Studio 5.1 rewired to Reason 2.5

try to ask something more specific bro...its real hard for people to help you when you're asking them to explain how to make beats to you...i mean that could take some of us 100 pages.

in the beginning its all about experimentation! you gotta figure out your own style of making what you want to make.

Listen to your favorite rap songs...(the ones u consider bangers) and straight up recreate them. Note for note and melody for melody, recreate it and do it for as many as you can think of until you actually have recreated a version of whatever beats your listening to. Don't keep these beats as actual beats though, just use them to understand how someone went about making a beat. By recreating the stuff you'll see the mechanics of the beat and how the instruments play in relation with each other. It takes mad time though, you wont just walk in 3-weeks to making beats and make bangers. Even if you get some hot melodies it'll take you a long long minute until you can start to grasp and apply mixing concepts into your beats. Making a beat is half the work, mixing it so everything sounds right and bangs nicely on any system means you'll have to learn compression, panning, EQing and layering to name a few. Theres a lot ahead for you to learn but stick with it!!

this is an opened question and no one answer will be correct. my advise, challenge yourself to make beats in a high bpm than what you're comfortable. if you're doing the more mellow and dark, i can only guess that you're probly working in in a bpm(beats per minute) range of 80-85. set your bpm to around 90 and see where you go from there. 2nd, drum programing, study the drums patterns and arrangements in some of your favorite songs, learn how they are incorperated and build a song by using them yourself, then personalize and make'em your own as you get comfortable with'em. everything else for the most part is all on what you hear. hope this helps. Peace.

Only thing that is common to most bangers is a banging drum beat... (and even that is not always right...)

the rest is up to you

That's It!!!!

Banging beat, deep thumping kicks, big popping snares. Simplify.... LESS is better. Bass + Beat + Loop. Try that on.
