Q for anyone who gets down on ditc

I have a question about putting effects on samples for you. I have in the past and more recentely been listening to Pete Rock beats and Petstramentals in particular, it seems he puts effects on a large percentage of his samples, this is something i have not done much of. I have simple ones reverb and delay on my recorder, but finally my q is what to you guys use to put effects on your samples? I have all hardware gear so i'm looking for something outboard.....

i usually stick to reverb on most tracks. delays if it fit the tracks. i try not too get too fancy with it cuz i like my beats sounding simple and natural.
