Put Urself In My Shoes, What Would U Do?

Greetings everybody,
I just want everybody to put theirselves in my position for a second. I'm an up and coming hip-hop impresario. I'm starting my own record label and I rap and produce among many other things (not to toot my own horn). But anyway I just contacted somebody that I've known for a long time regarding my music career. He is related to one of the most influential CEO's in music today. I just made it known to him about my career. The problem is: I don't want to make it seem as if i'm using him just to further my career. We all know that you have to make people seem as if they are going to benefit also (read 48 Laws of Power) if you want something from them. How do you think I can play to his emotions and involve him in this? I spoke to him briefly and he said to give him some copies of my stuff and he'll "pass it around" but i'm smart enough to realize that if I make him apart of it he'll push me even more. What should I do?!?

Thanks 4 ur time,
Fro$ty

Man look Imma tell you from my vantage point, if you really understand the industry it is really about, influence, contacts, politics and relationships, who cares about the perception someone will have of your position relative to your contact, I am sure that if it is your longtime contact then he won't be at all offended by your attempt to leverage yourself because of his position.....since you got that $ sign in your name I am also sure that you know about money being one of the greatest assets of any powerbase........so not that you would actually give him money, you have to realize that if this not a very close associate it might call for a few nights of clubbing or hanging out....drinks on you of course....and outside of that I don't know how you could reward him for the advantage you are about to get in relation to others that have NO contacts....

Man you tell the person how you feel. It is all going to come down to your music anyway. just ask the person if they are really feeling your music and if they are not you should just move on.
