I have a short but simple question regarding selling a few beats to an emcee.
I want to sell tha beats to him at a bundle price as cash up front - or no deal. Im doin it this way for tha simple fact that there is gonna be no soundscan and im not goin to be able to track how many units are sold, therefore not knowing how much money is really rightfuly owed to me when tha day is over. Thing is im a little confused as to my options regarding tha rights of tha tracks?...Im going to copyright them and then sell them to him...so afterwards - do i still own tha rights to tha beats or does he then?...Also, can i sell him tha beats with tha rights still in my name, so that i can use them later on still? - - Whats tha best way to deal with this situation in yer opinion???

An agreement of course is a contract you need to decide on what you want concerning your work...will you lease the tracks or will you sell them and possibly give up any future rights...can he resell your tracks?...imagine if you sold a banger to him and he turned around and was able to sell it to a label or an artist with a big budget...and this cat sold it and it turns out it makes it to an album where you could still get some splits...or worse sold it and claimed you gave him all publishing rights, or he released it himself and it goes platinum...I know these are worse case scenarios...man there is a whole fuggin unseen world of things that can happen if ... you start letting people have tracks and you have no legal counsel man...or at least a basic contract on how you want to continue to have entitlements to your work although they are incorporated in this artists project........bottom line find a lawyer....don't listen any advice on here unless we got someone that is ESQ or knowledgeable enuff in Music industry contracts or law to write one up for you...yeah you can get the ones floating around etc on the net but if you are dealing with your work and your money would you listen to someone on a discussion board probably in the same boat you are in>>>>>really???? thats my advice but it's all on how much risk you wanna take...
