So far im gettin progressively better. I am at the point where i can sample almost anything..I can make any beat i hear..and im learning my keyboard slowly.

But i cant do FULL songs. Or uses the right filters to make them sound good. I have no knowledge of when he chorus is supposed to drop..whats a bridge...when u should pan..etc.

MOt of the time i use a pattern based setup 4 bars...2 bars...4 bars... 2 bars...verse...chorus...verse..etc. And altho i have switch ups and cuts..u basically will kno my song after 1:30 point.

SO can anyone help me out and point me in the direction to USEFUL mastering/mixing guides. I tried this before and ended up reading something that looked hebrew to me...all these techniques they used to explain a simple technique..it was messy.

Anyone has a mastering and PRO SOUND for dummies..plz let me know

i have read and bought a few how to type books, and from my experience they dont help too much. trial and error is generally the best way to learn. as far as your song structure, the amount of bars can vary depending on the tempo and style of the song. its basically 16 bar verses and 8 bar hooks, but once you start adding bridges and tempo changes that alters things considerably.

Listen to artists you like and analyze the song structure. There are several variations but the majority of popular music out there works on a basic template that you will easily see once you start paying attention to the arrangement of the song.

As far as "professional sound," do you mean the mastered, commercial radio ready sound?

Good advice Phil I guess the other thing you can do well at least what helped me is. Grab some 12" singles with instrumentals then just listen and break them up into the components don't worry if the samples aren't quite perfect. You just need them for reference material most songs are pretty straight forward 16 verse 8 hook like truth said. What you want to listen for though is with in the 16 bar verse how does the drums change how many times do they use a specific sample. Also if the volume changes from the intro to the first hook. You can learn a ton about structure just listening to instrumentals. My 2 cents.

Oh mastering on the other hand is a bit harder to explain if you have a specific question on part of the process I can answer that but, I'm not sure if you need to know the entire process or what.
