Do you believe that a producer is nothing w/out an artist/lyricist? I think that in order to make it in the music industry...you have to match up w/some tight ass artists so that they can contribute to your beat and make it 100 Xs better. What do u think?

i feel youll have a better chance of making it in the game if you can find someone that can get your sound out to the people.....everybody dont got the big time connects to hop on the next jigga man cd but if you can get someone else thats not known name poppin thats saying alot about yourself.

I was always just makin beats and playin' em for people, but when I actually hooked up with an MC and put it down I noticed more of a response when our music was played at parties or whatever. Its a great feeling to have people up out of their seats!

You can make it without a lyricist if your beats are tight enough and you know where to go with them.

they both work hand in hand -- and they can both stand on their own -- but all in all -- together is where they work their greatest magic

Good question. A producer can survive without a rapper but its difficult for a rapper to do shit without a source for beats. But I believe it's harder for a producer to get the name out if they ain't hooking up with rappers (cause at the end of the day, isn't that one of the major points of hiphop production?) So, rappers need producers but emcees are useful to producers...so both really need the other.

However, there are some producers that don't need rappers because their beats speak for themselves (Shadow, RJD2, etc).

It's really a matter of opinion and what the producer wants to be doing....

A realy good question. But some producers are so god they need no rappers the beats are so good that you here mostly on the beats then on the artist.

I think its good to have lyrics cause sometimes the worse beat with the right flow could become a hot track.....Some times producer beat is only the paint and the artist is the one who paints the picture so everyone else can see it clear. I know some of us have had times when we have work with this or that artist and they wasnt feeling a beat but once so and so got on it and rip it they wish they had got it....thats what having artist do for ya. Good rapper is a good rapper a good beat maker is a good beat maker but to make a hit song for the people to hear it and react you must have the two........Even if your tring to get known you could make a thousand hot tracks put them on cd and pass them out(this is not the point) and the average person wont feel it cause it dont have that missin element or you could take your beats hook up with a young hungry artist and put together a mix tape slash cd slash demo and put it out in the streets...make sure the artist hollas your name in the begining of the song and at the end....now off the jump off if so and so artist is spitting over your beats they gona get props first up but once it all sinks in people are gona also hear this kind shouting your name too. One thing i notice is until you get your face seen a producer is the last one to get any props in the streets....sometimes people give all the credit to the artist...but sooner or later you gona shout...Damn it feels good to see people up on it.
