Hello. I was wondering if you need Pro Tools Hardware to use the software, or can you just run it on your PC.

Any help is appreciated.

Hey,

My understanding of PT is that you need both the hardware and the software, unless you're running PT Free. This is one of the advantages of running PT, hardware and software which have been designed to run with each other.

There are a few PT users in this forum...any answers for darthck?

Take care,

Nick

All i know is from tha looks of how much that shit is, you better be real serious about that gear and want to committ to it once you get it, cuz that shit is mad steep!
I heard its good though...El-P from Def Jux did his album on protools digi 001 and tha shit is fucking excelent...if El-P is foriegn to you - you should check out my atmosophere thread...theres a link to tha jux page there so that you can see what his stuff sounds like.

As far as I'm aware, unless you're using PT free, the software won't work if it doesn't recognize it's hardware.

My producer partner unplugged the M-Box from the Mac and said ProTools didin't seem to work. I guess it's the same for Digi 001 & 002.

Only Protools free works without the hardware its designed to utilise. Without the hardware interface a la Mbox, Digi002, HD, etc., ProTools software will not be functional in an industrious way.

Protools Free is an 8 track audio sequencer and is considered to obviously be a trivial joke meant simply to whet the appetite of potential ProTools investors (I mean, users.) Silly me.

Sincerely,
God

Its like that with all protools ,digi oo1 oo2,mbox,hd,tdm you can only use protools interfaces thats why they dont just sale the software by its self.....
