Pro Tools 8 Major Midi Improvements

So I just watched the video for Pro Tools 8 and eveything looks pretty good but I'm concerned about the major upgrade of the midi features. Has Pro Tools finally caught up to the midi features in DAW's like Logic & Cubase? This would be a major addition to do complete production & recording all inside of Pro Tools, truly in the box.If you haven't caught the videos be sure to go to www.digidesign.com and check them out.

So what do you guys think,

Is Pro Tools 8 midi features advanced enough for full production ITB?

Any feedback!!!

Tru lol! They should have got Just Blaze do a video of him using it instead of just interviewing him.Im anxious to get my hands on it to see if it can hold its own.

Yo NYSOM, why do you have a cracked one, doesn't the MBOX or any other Pro Tools hardware come with Pro Tools?

I wouldn't go so far as to say pro tools has caught up yet but its definitely on its way. Midi wise, for what I need it for, it already does it, be it a little awkward. I like pro tools because it does audio extremely well, and arguably better than any other DAW. I'm gonna get PT8 and do my own side by side comparison with Cubase. I'm betting I'd probably use cubase for beats and use protool for mixing if i'm using any virtual instruments at all. If its just my mv8000 and my motif then i'd definitely drop the audio directly into pro tools. I'm not saying one is better than the other, I'm just going with the "what works best for me" approach. Plus, it gives me an excuse to use pro tools more, as i dont use it nearly enough.

As a side note, I would never want pro tools to become bloated like other DAWs. I think their forward movement is great, especially capturing the home studio market....but i dont see alot of HD users using the midi features alot.

and by the way, uppin the track count for LE/M-powered was a no brainer

Well I LOVE logic, but with the new editor it is getting closer. I would have no problems composing in PT.

Yea from the looks of it I would have to agree with you, it looks great. I think that midi note seperate function will get alot of use from people like myself that use battery for drums and start off with doing all of the drums on one track then go back seperate them.I looking forward to it
