Daily Hip-Hop News:
DJ Premier Hooks Up w/Christina Aguilera
Wednesday - September 14, 2005
by Carl Chery

After momentarily disappearing from the mainstream, DJ Premier is slated to produce several songs, including the first single off Christina Aguilera's forthcoming album.

While in Hamilton, Canada to attend the Canadian DMC World DJ Championship Finals, Primo phoned into The Mixtape Massacre show at Toronto's CKLN FM (88.1) station. During the brief conversation, the Boom Bap legend revealed he had been working with Aguilera and had given her trademark Primo tracks.

The DJ/producer also noted that he produced a track he describes as unusually fast by Primo standards and that Aguilera wants to make it the LP's first single. The track is untitled and has yet to be completed. Preme also crafted a song dubbed "Thank You" in which he provides the song's intro by scratching Aguilera's "Genie In A Bottle" and "Back In The Day," a homage to musical legends like soul singer Aretha Franklin and saxophonist John Coltrane.

"It's that scratching and cutting. All the beats are really unique. She can really sing. That's what really made me wanna do it," Primo told the hosts of The Mixtape Massacre show. "She can sing without having to have anybody coach her through her lyrics or anything. She's really got skills."

Primo also took the opportunity to plug M.O.P. -affiliate Teflon's new project, Contraband. The CD features spots from Styles

yup , he produced a Limp Bizkit song a few years ago. I think it's called "N 2 together now" or something like that.

ummmm primo been "sold out"....

where you been?

fred durst was NOT a good look- good beat, horrible song.

honestly though... this is a good look imo. some of you act like music begins and ends with hip hop, and nothing else matters. for all of you shouting "sellout" here, ever stop and think that 20 years of the same old shit can get monotonous? whats wrong with branching out? nobody has heard it yet...once again i see people shooting something down before they even hear it.

and if you guys havent got the memo, she's got a phenomenal voice. if you dont think she can sing.... well you dont know shit about music then, we'll just say that.

Folks in hip hop are real silly sometimes.

Just becasue an artist wants to try new things does NOT mean he is selling out. He is just trying new stuff. Hip hop heads need to get over this "u gotta stick to what u have always done" mentalitity. That shit is wack. I think he its dope he is bringing new artist to his sound.

fuck what Premo does. Seriously, at least he's workin with someone who has talent. That's key. Shit, if i'm sellin out,,,,it would have to be with someone who has talent. Honestly tho, ths dont bother me,,,look at Timbo. Timbo got sick of the way Hip Hop went so he started doin pop. Whatever. Now, if Guru is on the song,,I will throw up!
