polydor records sample clearance

i am having the hardest time finding contact info for polydor records. i know they merged to polygram, then i think mca and into eventually universal. i want to sample a couple cuts from james brown's funky people part 3, which was released on james's own people records which he sold to whatever label he was signing with at the time. the jb funky people3 was released in 2000. i have checked ascap, bmi, and sesac.
can anyone help out???????????...............................

i am also having a tuff time finding publishing info on bootsty collins, what so never the dance..

why are u tyring to clear samples anyway? pretty much a waste of time unless u are releasing material under your own company and are moving good amount of scans.... otherwise let the label pay for the clearances..

i would normally just jack em. but on this particular project i have to watch my back. i have made some stuff that is going to get radio play. and a few of the samples i used are loops, kinda old school like, and a few of them are pretty recognizable. i have looked into some clearance companies, but they rape you $200 consulting fee, minimal 2 hours. $800 research fee per track, and then $200 licensing fee. thats well over $1000 per track using samples and if the track has multiple samples !?!! .thats even before you have to pay the writer/artist/publisher and label. you might get denied rights and still have to pay the consulting and research fee.
this is something i have to learn anyway, i wish i didnt cuz its a fuking headache. all i want to do is make beats nothing else, but i dont have a team of people working for me.

Dont clear samples unless you are gunna be pushing enough units to get caught. In reality, its financially unfeasible for us independent producers to do this. Plus the major cats usually have the samples replayed and then pay a licensing fee which will end up being a whole lot cheaper than clearing an original sample.

Look at it like this, if someone contacts you about not clearing a sample, then you are doing really good!

you answered the question ur self .. thats how u clear samples ... through the clearence compance like harry fox etc.. now take everybodys advice and dont do it lol ... look at it this way... when u get to the point where u actually need to do this, u will be in a position where people will do it for u

i know everyone is trying to lookout, but i feel like alot of people on here get all weird and defensive in a derogatory type of manure, when someone has a serious question. do you really think if i was just going to release some mix-tape bullshit or release something on myspace that i would be trying to pay to clear samples,"NO i wouldn't" . im not going to clear these unless i have too, but i want all the necessary information that i need to do this with out a sample clearance company jacking me. i have financial backing that needs to be used, and i figured if i could why not. by all means i get so much help from this site as it is, and i wanted to make a point that im not here to argue with anybody, i just didnt want 40 replies all saying the same shit that i already know.

through all this research i have learned a great deal about alot of labels that i have sampled in the past, and have found it quite interesting. learned about who actually writes the songs and how many different people performed them and actually came across some shit i have never heard of that im going to look into when i get some free time.

if i rubbed anybody the wrong way, it was not my intention, i was just trying to get my point across. shit, im used to someone like wings comin through and giving me the goods within a day or so.

I had never looked at it that way, but that's actually dope. I mean what better way to learn about the workings of clearing a sample than actually doing it.
