Wuts up guys im back again with another post....Well I was wondering from u guys im only 17 and cant really afford all those synthesizers but I also dont really want to use the computer for "FULL" production...I was wondering what do u guys think if I got an mpc 2500 or 4000 and use EMU's Proteus X2 for all the vintage instruments until I can really get into buying big Analog synths...I wanna use the mpc for everything from drums to sequencing to sampling to midi sequencing...What do u guys perfer I dont think I should get a 4000 thoe if I have the Proteus X2 it does everything the 4000 does jus without the sequencing....Let me know guys and oo yea I DOO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT WANT A MPC 1000 because of all the bad things I have heard about it....LEt me know guys come on ILLMUZIK FAM let me know what I should do...MPC or no but remeber I do not want to use the computer for "FULL" productions such as sequencing..

But go ahead and get the warranty and extended warranty on it..They have a couple of issues.

Yea I do want to get the 2500 but I jus like how the 4000 sounds and Im tired of the onpoint quantize I get in reason or FL (Fruity Loops)I want the bounce to my beats that u get in REason I've been takin Needlz advice and thats Tryn not to sound like those other guys out here.BTW but yea I will look into the 2500 since the Proteus X2 is jus like the 4000 without sequencing..ANyone else have any advice for me?

i have the 4k and highly recommend it. if you want to do all that you can't beat the 4k's depth of features, sequencer, and sound quality. bear in mind the 4k is the only 24 bit mpc and somewhere down the line you'll realize that does make a nice difference in headroom and sound quality.and the thing is, the price difference between the two is very small on ebay...bear in mind if you get the 2.5 you'll want an HD and possibly some extra ram, so tack that on and I imagine you're not all that far from the 1800 or so 4'ks are going for on ebay, and you have aksys for software integration with the 4k, and i dont think the 2 has that.

I see nicole said get an mv-8000 I hesard TOOOOOOOOOOOO much bad stuff about that and all my life since the mpc 2000xl came out I wanted an mpc....but now that I am feeling that the Computer is making me real LAZY! I want to move to an mpc and use the computer as a sound module until I get the money to buy Vintage analog synths...Im doin a payment plan on the 4000 on Sweetwater later this year im finna work on gettn my computer running good for Pro tools M-powered and get sum good monitors and get the Emu X-board 61 for the Proteus X and upgrade to X2 for the sounds u can buy expansion paks for it and they all are old vintage instruments.....

And Yea alot of ya'll might think like the sound out of a computer is weak but if I run it thru the 4000 it will make it thicker thats 1 of the things I like about the 4000 it makes ur sound thicker and fatter....

ouch man, you;re paying through sweetwater? i love them but i'd never buy a 4k thru them, you can get them for 900 under retail on ebay.

i don't really know what effect running your mixes through the 4k will have honestly, remember there's no analog in there. not to mention you need to be sure if you're doing that that you're using spidf or adat ins and outs because otherwise you'll be degrading the signal twice. the 4k can make your drums bang and cut through a mix but thats due to two main things...the akai eq curve which isn't necessarily going to help a whole mix like it helps drums...and second the audio is 24 bit, assuming you have 24 bit samples, but i wouldn't rely on the mp just for 24 bit mix sound, logic and a number of daw's can do that internally.

Naw Im not relying on the mp for the full and warmth of sound im relying on it for the ease of use and the lack of laziness...If u get what im sayin

but see sum cats can use the computer I feel I am a hardware cat thats the era I came from b4 we even had cd burners where u had to set the tape at the right point....And I hate all that mouse clikin too...and with the mpc everything is hands on no tryna click here and there to figure out where this is its fast but then again its time consuming...
