what are all of these outputs i am seeing on all these machines.what are their functions?

i am under the impression that the usb digital output would allow me, for instance, to use it as a means of sending sound files to and from my computer- but if i had sequenced a 10 track song on, say my fantom xr (when i get it) via cubase, would i be able to use one of these to send each individual track to cubase as audio?

or am i under the wrong impressions here?

I'm not really into all this, so can't help you much Truth, but just thought I would mention, that my M-Box only uses a USB cable down to my pc, so the sound goes through that. If you Fantom also has a USB slot, it's either to send midi or audio, or both. Give it a try...

Digital Out or Optical out or SDIF:
100% pure digital music with no distortion & noise
at any sample rate or bit quality.

i think u can only use adat to send
a multitrack recording on your computer n open it that way.

No. USB can only transfer POWER(a sm. amount) and DATA... nothing else... Audio cables are ONLY for audio... in less it's a DIGITAL Opitcal out... then it's audio...
