HOW MANT BEATS DO YOU WORK ON AT A TIME?

as in how many beats do you have that are in the process of being developed?

I have about 10 but i was thinking maybe i should start some more so i can switch to another beat when i get stuck

Shit Messenger thats my problem!...I think it boggs me down honestly some times cuz i usually end up making like several beats a day that stop at about tha beat / bass / maybe a couple other layers....and then i just get board to quick and move on to tha next one...Usally for several reasons - like tha 1st beat i started making is good, but now i just thought of better one with a better idea - and tha vicious cycle begins.
Tha only problem i find with that iz that often i forget about some really good loops or beats that are dope that just need to be layered properly or are jus missing one or two things...But these can get lost real easy in a massive folder of misc. beats. In tha end i usually go back and listen to them all and weed out tha wack ones and usually come out with like 10 - 13 extra beats that were jus waiting to be finished, sometimes more.

I suffer from that myself. What I do is...once I get bored or stuck..I just stop and pick it up another day. I have 20 plus beats in progress and sometimes I don't mess with them for months. Then one day I open them up and it just flows. Aight! One!

Hey,

Beat management is OH so difficult. Especially if you're really creative, you're mind is running around at a squillion miles an hour, idea being generated from nothing which makes you think about how you can make that one bassline just a little better...thenwhenyougetworkingonityourememberthatyourfriendneedstogetthatonebeatdonwforthisweekend'sbattleshowintheparksoyougetcrackingonitbuththenyourememberthatifyouaddjustalittlereverbtothevocalsofthetrackyoumadeforyourgirlitwillsoundohsohot....

If you don't have anything pressing, I don't see this as a problem, working on as many beats as you want. However, if you have deadlines or of people are depending on you, switching from beat to beat can be a real hassle, it wouldn't be a bad idea to maybe make a list of things which NEED to get done before screwing around with new stuff.

i usually work on like 4 or 5 at atime..i work till i get stumped the switch again till i get stumped. it takes me like 45 minutes to make a beat but it takes me like a week or more to actually "finish it". some beats i work on evry day for like a couple months to "make it sound right" it weird i take mad time when makina beat but like when vitaminman said, u got a deadline..it seems like i can do a weeks worth of work in a day...the laziness disaapears when u got someone or something pressin you
