Lots of good discussion in this thread - For whatever reason, I never received one of these "pay me to be on the Soundclick allstars mixtape".

For all the new jacks to business, especially music business- your gut instinct or intuition is 95% right . In general, before you spend any money to do features or appearances, meet the individual or company rep in person to discuss further.

In more than half of the cases, if the person is unwilling to meet in person, than they have something to hide. Most serious people in this business will meet you in person, and the real serious people will send an assistant to meet you in person.
I'm not saying they'll be on time (lol) but they will show up for a percieved opportunity.

thats rrrrrrreaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllll talk right there .. whenever i get any connect for anything nowadays .. first thing I do is call them on the phone and speak man to man and set up a meeting in person .... you would be suprised at how many wont even talk to u on the phone better yet see u in person.... over the net anybody could be anybody .. u wont get a true accurate picture of who you are dealing wit unless u meet them and talk it up.

as to what blunt said .. yeah unfortunately its true for the most part ....if u are unknown .... u gotta play to pay ... a dj that puts out a mixtape is tryin to make a profit .. and bigger names = more profit ... so for an unknown to get on there disc u might have to give him some "inititaive" even if ur shit is hot.. Mims paid alot of people to get his "this is why im hot" played and it eventually paid off for him in a big way. Now mims aint hot in my book... but he def got hustle skillz ... he basically hustled is way into a major deal and a number one single on his own.
