that cool i never payed attention to that but mentally im past fear factor. it was basically a learning experience putting out the whole record. Im bout to move to russia and become a communist lol. they seemed to love our shit over there, we'd prolly be rockstars or some shit over there. Naw but we made mad mistakes with that record but also did alot of things right. Overall i think our biggest mistake was we skipped a few steps getting the record out. When we made the record we were both primarily producers, which doesn't make for a strong ground movement. We didnt have the "im the shit" mentality and hog the spotlight like we prolly should have. We had the "behind the boards mentality" which doesnt really work when ur putting out your OWN reccord. We didn't do enough shows and put in work on the ground level networking and linking with the type of people who can put us on the map . we kinda just created a piece of art but didnt have the movement behind it. Since then ive been doing way more collabing, (recorded roughly 40 joints in the past 4 months) and i have a tour planned, and some people have even reached out to me to host some events for them and things of that nature (relic im coming down to Charlotte to host a an all day outdoor event/party on Jun 13th, i wanna holla at u and Step) we started the smash enterprise thing, my emcee game is about 3X what u heard on fear factor and overall im pretty much done with that behind the scenes mentality nonsense. It just doesnt work. My album is gonna be Free this time around too so hopefully we can really gain major momentum going into the next smash album. I also got a "best of both worlds" (me raping and my dude goodbrother singing) style mixtape coming out almost right after GMC. looks like a busy summer coming up. keep that advice coming GOD. Its crazy heplful

I ain't dishing advice (read my sig), just opinion from an anonymous cat on an internet forum.

1) Never consider what you did a failure. It isn't a failure - you have a product that didn't have promo money, so it wasn't pushed. Keep grindin'. Nothing in life comes easy - especially when you're trying to do something in a field that is very competitive.

2) You can probably still shop it to agents and managers. They're the real "door openers". It's hard for someone with no social proof to get into the spotlight. A lot of the stories you hear about cats rising up are sometimes fabricated (i.e. Akon). I've heard of cats submitting over 100 demos with press kits to agents and managers. All it takes is one person to say "yes" and you're in.

3) Hold you head up high - you've done more than cats who just talk bullshit and don't do anything about it.

4) HATERS:
They are around, they are prevalent and they are probably also your friends. Don't listen to people downtalking your talent. Don't get discouraged. Envy is a bitch and it's something that everyone experiences but nobody wants to admit.

You don't think some cats from your 'hood were envious that you put out an album? Your friends saw what you created and they got jealous? Or they heard girls bumping your music - and they got angry.

You gotta stick to your plan and don't get discouraged. Music is subjective. Examples?

- Kanye West's 808 and Heartbreaks.
TRUTH: If it were submitted as a demo to an industry head - it would have been rejected NUMEROUS times.
BUT: It's hailed as "progressive art" and all other bullshit.

Why? Because music is subjective.

Keep fucking grinding and stay positive. Don't let motherfuckers talk you down - and don't get depressed because some of your submissions were rejected. That's guaranteed.

5) Take advantage of music while you're still young
If you want to make it - try while you're still young. You'll have time to recover from problems or failures. The older you are, the more responsibilities you have, the more you're limited to take risk.

Stay disciplined and stay focused. Success comes from taking advantage of an opportunity, whatever it may be.

Don't believe it - take it from a billionaire:

Just watch out for haters. They're the ones that make "suggestions" for your music, they can stray you down the wrong path by pretending to be your friends. Ignore them.

Do what YOU need to do. Make a plan and STICK WITH IT.

good looks G, i def don't see our joint as a failure, not at all. I see it as a success. We did alot more than we initially anticipated. but like any competitive person, you always want to outdo yourself. If anything its even more motivating because we know we can do even better and we both have progressed alot since then.
