But same goes for me, I have problems with the US system and government and yes, very clearly but that is not an attack on the people. Maybe it's shauvinism, patriotism or whatever makes you feel offended but dont attack my ass if you cant follow the context of a conversation because you read one line which fellt like attacking all the US citizens. Second, the nature of most remarks are not what I call factuall or would fall in terms of an argument, more like fishing for a decent offensive on what had been said. Ima keep objective to the topic in discussion in favor of the topic itself, you feel like beefin than you have problem with yourself....not me...
As for the "no idea about america", I have loads of former collegues from the US as to anywhere else, have US friends since a little kid and definitly know where they're coming from while growing up pretty much near the AFC HQ. And as much you'd want to stereotype anything outside the US, we stereotype americans aswell, sometimes I'm right and sometimes people know better whether they're from the US or not, mostly these people have travelled and have travelled for a long time all over the globe. None of them remain the feeling of an american or whatever, they're world citizens.
Class, I agree with ya, you come to A'dam and the second idiot with a bandana you come across would portray himself as a bigger american then the first one. You might wonder what is wrong with this guy, but I'm also wondering the same thing. Germany is even worse, the more fubu they can where the better, with all hiphop gear i.g. These people are posers, prove a point, I wear this gear cuz now Im hiphop and my shoes are seen on mtv, cuz pharrel wears them too. Fact is indeed that the US is a image copied (exploited) by US firms across the globe and yes, shocking surprise, people are easily influenced, let alone have an opinion of their own. But the point is that you recognize a culture when you can look beyond such items, all good looks and make believe.
Now this is to me a sort of propaganda. You see some influential guy in a clip wearing a new kind of sneaker and the bitches in the clip are hotter than "mc-I-really-dont-care", you gotta have it. You bought the shoes...now it goes, the shoes are made in god knows what poor country and kids are being cheaply exploited. The company exploiting the shoes has no plans on bringing such info into press because it fucks up the PR model and customers complain, leaving the company with loss. Now they're lucky, the general concensus has no clue where these shoes come from, they look cool and reasonably cheap in terms of popular shoes. Life goes on, foreign kids exploited, customers happy.
In a corny and simple way it's how I look at the US, as long as the people are happy they wont bother politics. It has nothing to do with the american dream or way of life because that indeed doesnt say anything to me, but in short the US political system tends to make sure people have nothing to complain about, americans overconsume because loads is cheap but beneficial products or services aren't for the average or poor Joe. There are tax structures and individual motivations for entrepeneurship that open one of the doors to the american dream, I mean, damn, you all can carry a gun. So yes, there are so many priviliges for being an american, but there are also loads of contradictions into all kinds of simple issues that still contradict to a healty or wealthy way of life. But with it takes attention off government activities or doesnt weigh up to change a man's ethics to act upon it. The question here is whether this is delibiratly subtle censurship, use of power or just under control by but I know that the big TV networks would not submit anything relevant that would make the republicans or affiliated industries appearant in such shady or scheming display. It's always coloured to give it it's best looks when instead the truth is ugly as fok.
But this not politics, this the way you all live you life far away from politics and I think that's how the US politics (the republicans) want it to be. You're living a democracy but I dont see the where that idea comes from besides from having votings etc.
I understand that the US alone is huge so if your interest for foreign news doesnt go beyond the US borders I think it's understandable, but the other way around is opposite. In the netherlands there are numerous parties and individuals that study the US political movements and all that's affiliated with lots of interesting in depth documentaries and articles, for those who watch public television that is, all the other commercial channels are dominated by rerunns of rerunns of rerunns. They'll show pretty much the same stuff you get on tv overthere.
