Ive never had tha opportunity to work in real time to produce my drum tracks, etc. so i dont know what its like but i do have what it takes to fill tha gap so to speak...
Im curious though just as to how many of yall actually do all that in real time - or at least primarly tha drums for that matter???

So heres a poll: How many of you guys/girls here on illmuzik produce yer drum tracks in REAL TIME or AFTER-TIME???

(Mind you - 'after-time' ususally only applies to tha newer software studios for tha creation of music/hiphop)

i do a little of both... it depends on the track, and the feel I'm going for... or if the melody is a little hard to follow....if its a very simple melody, I'll drop Real-Time drums just to mix it up a little.... 'm still wrk on our joint.. I'll PM you about that later....

it depends on what I'm working with.
when I work with my computer it's all programming, but when I work with my sampler I play real time.
sometimes I program a beat with my computer and record the hihats or rides real time just by playing with my drumcomputer.
so I do a little bit of both.

Thats cool...this is pretty much where i thought we would take this...

AF...yer comment mostly applies to me now a days, though i have had tha experience of doin it in real time and im not bad at it....ive more jus come accustomed to programing it on tha computer cuz thats what i started with.

50/50.....sometimes I use the Grid or Step method to sequence....but the key to that is going back and adding realistic velocity afterwards......the reason why I prefer to program drums in realtime is that I can kill 2 things once and get the feel that I want the drumtrack to have right off the top and just have to make corrections to the quantization or the timing, but Imma drummer so you know I am partial to playing a beat........

Word Big D! Thats how i feel too...
I actually have a ox8 keyboard and have tried layin tha drums with it but i dont like tha sensitivity of tha velocity - other than that it would be dam near perfect since i would prefer velocity sensitive pads like on a mpd-16, but thats out of my reach right now...But yeah i see it that way too since you took tha words out of my mouth with tha whole 2 birds with one stone thing...
