It's about time the labels do something, otherwise they'll be dead. They know that digital is the way to go nowadays, but how they handle these investments is a different issue.

What do you think the implications are for artists. Records may not be selling like they used too but if record labels are being rewarded with profits by leveraging artist content do you think artists will be smart enough to try to do something about that, cause these labels cant cry broke anymore.

The minute the label gets involved, it's not good for the artist because they're left with just a bit. Granted, big artists still make lots of money, but most of them make that money from tours. I don't know how much they actually bring in from record sales though.

It also makes me wonder...If the profits come back, do the production budgets come back too?!
