Since you said it could be old, a Korg Trinity might do the trick. They're going for about 350 - 500 on eBay.

hey man im in the same situation as you im also lookin to compliment my 1k.i aint so sure what to get. id prefer to get an all in one synth but a cheaper option is to get a controller and a module in most cases.

i dunno bout the microkorg as a bread and butter unit. i mean wouldnt all the beats u make it sound a little similar due to the type of sound it puts out, seems better as an addition

microkorg dont offer a lot of sound.

If youre lookin for something analog and programmation check out the Korg Ms2000 Rack, I think the price dropped below 500 $.

A nice JV-1080 or any other roland expandable module can be a good choice, cuz you can get it for not much then expand it later with JV or srx cards, dependly on wich module you choose.

E-Mu's aren't made anymore so you can cope some for 300$-400$.

Mo Phatt is a reputed module from eMu for hip-hop.

Kawai 5000r is a bread and butter unit, with a lot of sound kinda GM but sounding different than GM. I heard dis a good unit and it can be found used for 400-500$ max.

My personnal choice would go with a Roland XV-2020 if I were on budget : already 64MB of great sounds and you can expand with 2 more SRX board. JV boards are nice and cheap (99-150$ approximately) but SRX are greater, built from the best patch of Jv's boards plus new actual patches.

Check it out.

rite sorry for changin the subject a bit but i need to know the right connections for a mpc1k, a sound module (eg. emu proteus), a midi controller

i need to kno how i can use the controller to trigger sounds in the module, so that the sounds are played through the mpc sequencer(and recorded in a sequence).

help with this would b much appreciated(if it is possible wot i want to do)....... also, do i need a mixer for these connections.
