damn, I bet the New Yorkers cant wait for the Marbury era to begin. I think the deal was good for both sides, New York gets a player that definitley fits in with their system and the Suns finally decide that their going to have to make deals for the long run.

The suns are smart they know that there not gona make the playoffs and buy trading them two guys the have cleared up 8 million dollars for the summer to rebuild...it sounds good for the Knicks but they had to pick up the last two years of Penny contract which will pay him about 13 million per season to come off the bench. The suns also are gona try and clear 20 million altogether so then can go out and get some good free agents. Oyea aint Kobie a free agent at the end of the season. MESSAGE!

Suns have established a past trend of getting rid of their best players. Jason Kidd for example... Arizona sports teams make bad decisions on trades period. Cardinals brought on Emmit Smith. He didn't do anything. He got shut down so bad back in Dallas he was crying after the game. And then The Diamondback traded Schilling to New York...

no, they made a good decision. they are positioning themselves for free agency and (possibly) kobe bryant. they would be a very attractive team for kobe- he would have a (much better then, i think) scottie pippen type in shawn marion, and the low post defender/scoring presence in amare stoudamire to play with....... great ownership and fans, etc.

plus, they arent exactly getting it done with him. you cant really fault marion cause the dude brings it every game- 20 points, 9 boards, blocks, steals, one of the top defenders in the game. he just isnt your go-to superstar. this trade gave them cap room and long term flexibility- if they dont make the playoffs, they will have a good pick- but it was swapped in the trade and depending on the pick they may be able to keep it. they are often times conditional when they throw in picks. plus they get Antinio McDyes with zero risk- his 13 mil comes of the books this year, and if he cant come back to form they let him walk, and f he is still solid they keep him for a bargain price and still save money, giving them two strong, athletic big men in the west to go with (if they get kobe) the most athletic and skilled perimeter in the league- especially if joe johnson can step it up.

of course, they got a stiff for a coach and no one to run the point. oh well.

as far as starbury, well- its show and prove time. hes on the biggest stage in the basketball world now, he has one of the best ever at his position to mentor him in isaiah, a guy who played a similar game at a much higher level and can help him get there. plus he now plays in the ever-more-pathetic eastern conference (sorry guys), so he has no excuse not to go somewhere. KVH and kurt thomas make a decent frontcourt, especialy in the dwarf ridden east..... ... now allan houston could prove to be extremely lethal with a good point to run with. plus this gives mike sweetney a chance to show why they took him 7th overall....

.....or steph can show that he really ISNT the great player he thinks he is, keith van horn will be the next vin baker, and allan houston is still vastly overated. only now, they have absolutely no excuses.

nah, kurt thomas is HARD man! he's a great backup.... he puts up good, solid numbers, just not star type numbers. kvh... well he is 17 ppg and like 7 boards....... career, but his track record shows that his weaknesses far overshadow his FEW strengths. allan houston is still VERY overated. now we will know for sure, no excuses, wont we?

yo kurt thomas is my nigga fo real!!!!! the most underated playa in the league and thats word..check his field goal percentage, rebounds.... he always is guarding someone that has about 4 inches on him too... the refs give him a hard time but he's my man ... houston can lick a testicle though ..

cant argue that at all. i dont see any teams really benifitting from him though. he is more overated then allen houston in my book. dude could be GREAT, i mean ALL time 50 potential but he has ZERO leadership and ZERO discipline, and TALENT most of us would kill for.
