Its about time nas hooked up with havoc again. They made some classics together. And this isnt the first time he did a joint with his pops, he was the one playing the trumpit on 'Life's a bitch.'

His pops is a dope jazz musician, that was the muted trumpet on "Life's a Bitch" one of my all time fav. songs!! Good Looking out on posting this new mp3!!!

yeah, but this one is a full on collab- yuo hear his pops seak on it and all, plus its his playing that is the foundation of the beat.

I'm not feeling this either, doesn't sound like blues too me, too fast for blues music, more like a march or something , just have that blues elements in it!

i use to hate the production on stillmatic and god's son (most of it) with a few exceptions, but his choices have grown on me.

how does this not sound like blues? its a classic blues progression played on a harmonica! it isnt meant to be "actual" blues. its hip hop utilizing blues elements for the main sample. how it doesnt sound like the blues is beyond me, becuase thats a basic blues harmonica right there.

I don't want to get into it, but I just want to say that this song is terrible, just terrible. I'm sorry but that's my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

yeah i'm with fade on this one. i aint feelin this track at all.

lol

guevara: as far as nas and pete rock i read awhile back that they aren't cool with eachother any more. i think pete felt like nas wasnt giving him the respect he deserved, being heavy in the game before nas, and nas was like i dont care, i got other people to get beats from. pete rock said he had mad beats set aside for nas but hasnt given them to him... pete rock had some classic shit back in the day, petestrumentals is such a dope instrumental album. i really wasnt feelin soul survivor 2 very much tho. pete rock can definitely do better than this lame beat though.

with the execption of a few tracks, stillmatic and godson took some time to grow on me, but if the rest of the tracks on his new album come off as nice as this one than man...........cold truth said it........nas is dope.....period.

nas - bridging the gap

i was just wondering, last time i went to ughh.com there was nas with "bridging the gap" on #1 of the top 40, so the next day i went to the record store immediatly, cause i hadn't heard that yet and it seemed like i should.
but after listening to it twice i was a bit frustrated...
i must admit he raps good ( its nas, so no surprise on that )the drums are chosen well and so on, but whats so special about it?
is it the topic, or maybe that plainly simple flipped blues sample ( my little brother comes up with those kind of ideas whenever he comes to visit me and my set is running :) ) ??

dont know, maybe ill be loving it after listening a few more times, but from a producers view, tell me how you feel about this track!?

i think its the Olu Dara bit that makes this track good/different. if it was just Nas on the chorus, it would just be another album filler.
