My Opinion On Hip-Hop's Current Sate

I'm starting to think that the media is shaping our taste. I mean how many times do you need to show someone the same commercial before he/she accepts it as the norm. They've been throwing these dull minded topics and images at us for so long that hip hop is beginning to lose it's purpose, which was freedom of speech. As a result of this, we now have the most ignorant rappers in hip hop history. Who is signing these retards and for what possible purpose other than to destroy Hip Hop? You know who they are. And If you don't, than you belong to their retarded fan base. Real Hip Hop heads are a dying breed." I love Hip Hop and I'm dedicated to making the true music.

Good point. In a way I feel bad for the music fans of today because they're missing out on a lot of good Hip Hop. The 90's are gone, I understand that, but there's still plenty of dope music to be found. Unfortunately, you have to really look to find it because the main stuff is all over the place and is just a shell of what it should be.

Yeah, I completely agree. Hey, here's an ideal, what if you, searched and compile all the good hip hop you can find and dedicate a section to it and have it previewed by illmuzik for it's Hip Hop's authenticity before it is actually posted. This way we'll be able to filter out the garbage. But, every song submitted will have to fit a criteria. The criteria could be written out for submitters to read and follow. Here's an example, criteria = songs that do not follow the stream of ignorance or rather the over saturation of it. We don't need to here about money, hoes, and clothes anymore, sorry Big. I mean I like drake and Lil Wayne (sometimes), but my point is this: people accept and believe what they see in front of them the majority of the time, which tells me that a rappers mean stream popularity and Image in heavy rotation is sold to the up and comers to the extant where they believe all that people will accepted is what they see the top successful artist doing. Narrowing free expression into a corner. There's poets, scholars, teachers, motivational speakers, that can be Hip Hop artist if given the chance to believe that there message will be heard and image accepted.

I see things a different way.

Before the internet, the only way potential fans heard of new music was via the radio or word of mouth. So your options were limited.

Hiphop was in the street, was rarely ever played on radio. People say they want hiphop back... Well... it's back and where it use to be... underground.

People have a choice today, they can either find and stick with underground music or they can flock to the radio. The radio has been dumbed down for years, this is nothing knew, shouldn't be a surprise. It's been this way for 15 plus years.

People claim labels, radio etc are brain washing people? These days the power of choice is more prominent that it ever has been. People can listen to whatever they want whenever they want and are no longer limited to the funnel of commercial music.

People listen to it because they choose to, so artists,labels etc keep creating it. The consumer dictates what the creator makes. The argument of "fans don't know good music and have a limited selection" is bullshit. Way too many indie artists and outlets to make this excuse.

This is much like a female that allows a dude with no job, money and or education knock her up. It was her choice, if she had a higher standard/ quality and taste in men, she wouldn't be approached by thugs who live with mommy

It's the same thing with music. If fans changed their tastes the creators would to (IF they want to make a living from it)

That's another thing that have to take into consideration, not everyone is going to like what you find interesting so to stay a float you have to cater to the market.

Actually, I can find great acts on the internet. They may not be commercially viable to a mass audience, but I still like it.

Better than paying $15 for a CD and finding out the underground act you bought had only one good song.

As far as mass consumption of hip-hop... we live in an infographic age. Plus, you have to dumb everything down for teenagers to experience any notable mainstream success.
