lol, indeed, im running mbp 2.2 c2d (santa rosa), 4mb L2 cache 800mHz FSB and 4Gb 667mhz ram with GF8600, superdrive...just a bit faster than yours but...more important, running its running leopard (and xp) Its a late 2007 model.

Also, just a tip, RME has an express34 interface for their hdsp range, very nice since 54 is not really featured anymore on newer portables.

Speed is only half the battle and for what I do....this one's more than fast enough. This laptop is specifically engineered with the music recording/producing in mind out of the box. You don't have to add or buy anything else. I'm never going Mac...neverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr muah ha ha ha ha ha!

Everyones got there own preference.
I actually used a PC for about 8 years, but once i finally picked up my MacBook i have to say the real selling factor isn't the specs of each unit but rather the OS itself that really is the heart of reliability with making music on a mac. Plus i think the workflow of a Mac is superior to a PC. PC's still utilize a old platform and windows OS' keep gettng worse - not better. The best release of Windows was XP for music, and even that OS was far more problematic than OSX on a Mac.

My opinion of course, but this is based from my own experience.

"You don't have to add or buy anything else."

I would not trust the judgement of any company that tells you to record your audio on the internal drive of a laptop.

" I'm never going Mac...neverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr muah ha ha ha ha ha!"

I guess some people just don't like quality and would rather play computer tech than make music. Thats cool.

ha ha!

they used run nasa missions with only 32k ram, clev is using a z8080 ? amstrad ? lol

macbook does 24/192... lol nothing added, i also heard that logic express will be added to newer leopard systems ...purchased a nice 2007 model on discount (but thats still in euros bwehehe, sorry couldnt resist)

im not saying you're wrong man, but ive done this game some time now and we know how it's done, pc or mac...ive never complained about my pc running 3.1.1,98,me or xp but im staying the fuck away from vista, it tries to look like leopard...

there is a way to run leopard on a pc...wont manage though, not that impressive.

Here's a go at me, we run a studio on a g4, 1ghz ...

24 tracks inline with logic pro 7.2 on tiger lol ancient, and whats wore, there's a behringer controller to it...and i hate behringer lol

also, you can install fl on a P1, 32mb and sb! live and bang a hit..fasstracker...

anyway, what guarantee do you have, the specs dont state how its failsafe to work with and its running vista i would think.i also never heard of that company but i do know carillon, have you checked those out ?

Enjoy your new toy. Hopefully you picked up an extra battery...with all that firepower and interfaces on it you might be able to squeeze 90 mins out of that 6 cell battery.

I purchased my first Mac (MBP) last year and I love it. Only thing that really sucks is it's harder to find programs/plug-ins that are Mac compatible.

Another Mac vs PC battle, yawn.

Unless you're a salesperson, why should you care what someone else is using? I don't get it.

It's a bit pathetic how worked up some people get about this; who gives a fuck what equipment you use? It's what comes out of it that's important.

Agreed. However i'll never refrain from being an advocate of quality gear. (These are our tools so every correct component counts IMO) For example, I would trade my ART MPA GOLD any day of the month to have a Avalon VT-737sp instead because I know first hand that that preamp renders far more organic and musical sounds in comparison to my MPA. Not to say great sounds cant be obtained with the MPA alone...Its just that there is a clear difference in quality - and personally when it comes to this audio shit id rather have something thats just that.

Be aware im not knocking dude for coppin a PC, far from it really. Plus cummon! What do you expect?
The title of this thread immediately challenges Mac computers in the old game of whos better so there you go.
