What are rap songs about? when for instance drake is rappin, what is the point of his song? 1 line is about ego, another is about girls, another is about money, another is about his mom, and so on and so on. this also happens a lot with Kanye, eminem (the mom part especially), kendrick, and ... (this is one of the reasons I admire joyner lucas)
So I was writin my own shit and I thought hey, what if I'm tired of having meaning 24/7? what if I wanna make money? what if my Audience is tired of this shit or I gotta ghostwrite for someone who doesn't like lyrical shit?
When I write raps I am Always rapping about a specified concept, like this is one of my new verses :
"Power to Win Battles or will to keep Peace?
Screams in my heart or Whispers of my Wits?
Honesty with my thoughts, bring illusions to a cease
or give in to the fantasy and fall on my knees ha?
God, you're my greatest dilemma, shit I need dope
These thought's be making me smoke
'Would you not sell being blunted to be woke or would 'you sell the blunt so you ain't gotta live broke?
God you're my Weed, my power to get by
my cocaine my crack my meth, 'tever gets me high
my allah, my god, my hope, you be the most high
life's best lifetime temporary lie
Should I 'count days till my death, be anxious for livin
or gratified by lies "I'm gonna be in heaven"
im strong enough to win the war against my own lie
but why fight a war that costs my own life"
so as you see, this verse is all about the same concept, it's telling the story of thoughts that are... connected to eachother. this is something I like, but it's not useful for a ghostwriter. no one wants to hear shit like this, this is kinda useless in the industry.
So here's my question: How can I write typical bullshit? How can I function jumpin from a concept to another 6 times in a single verse? what should my mindset be for that?
btw this shit sounds more like a poem, would it sound good on a beat? what should I do about that?
