You have to set the release. knowing where that is depends on what your using within your DAW. It's in your DAW not the mpd.

i'm using Reason 3

Using the NN-XT sampler

gp

The NN-XT has a release knob. On the front panel under Global controls. Release is right beside Decay. Make this panel your best friend! If a sample is coming in to hard adjust the attack to make is have a smoother transition.

Basically every knob under Global controls gives you more "control" over your sample. Play around with the knobs to see what they do. Of course you can open up the bottom panel of the NN-XT and do even more detailed adjusted and manipulations.

The NN-XT is without a doubt the best thing smokin' when it comes to modules within Reason.

If you just want to adjust the params of one sound in the sampler you can also click inside the editor on the sample as well and make the same alterations with the envelopes below, including a huge of amount of filtering and synthesis.

That way, if you got a whole drum kit inside the XT you dont have to alter the attack, etc. on every drum sound.
