I always either have string of bad or a string of good luck ya know looks like my luck just kicked back in.....anyhow I got this other producer (she doesn't think of herself as such but she is a classical and professional pianist she also plays anything stevie wonder, you know the kind of musician you see in the ritzy hotel lobbies and atriums she takes any request and can play from her head)..not the one I talked about in another thread but I am surrounded by real musicians that I will be sampling soon) but anyhow we did 2 projects before...not hip hop or RnB and she wants to do a neo soul vibe project soon, but anyhow awhile back she said she had an old keyboard in her closet gathering dust and I could use it.....then the other day she said I could have it....so being the gearhead that I am I quickly go over to her place and guess what kind of board it is???? a Kurzweil PC88mX LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am like thanks.....she has this yamaha woodgrain board that she uses I didn't see the model but it looks really nice so she doesnt use the Kurzweil anymore....it has 1 broken key on it but everything else is perfect it even has the plastic film over the screen....well since I already have a triton X I was like what am I going to do with this 88 key keyboard....plus if you know anything about the kurzweil it weighs like 100 or more lbs...well it took me from last night till a few minutes a go to set it up and get everything hooked up on my midi chain because I have to use these sounds in my tracks....I tried the normal midi configs but none would work you know using the thru to in etc....I was scratching my head like now what...because I have never had a problem hooking up gear like this....but I found out something about the way the kurzweil splits the midi channels into zones it might be a problem....luckily on the MPC 3000 it has 4 yes 4 midi channels A,B,C& D so you can hook 4 devices up on its OWN channel so that's how I finally solved the problem, but anyhow the sounds on this board to me as far as fullness and pianos are waaaay better than even the triton.....its limited sounds because it really is a performance piano/controller, has anyone here used this board?
