Mpc2000xl Sampling Question?

JUST GOT AN MPC2KXL..LEARNING IT QUICK, BUT STILL HAVE ALOT TO LEARN.......CAN ANYONE TELL ME AN EASY WAY TO SAMPLE FROM A CD....WHEN I TRY AND TRIM IT IT SEEMS LIKE I CAN'T GET IT JUST RIGHT...ANY SUGGESTIONS.......AND CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT A BAR, TSIG , AND TIMING IS (IM A NOVICE).......I JUST WANNA MAKE BEATS, AND IT SEEMS THAT WHEN I TRY TO RECORD A SEUENCE OR TRACK MY TIMINGS OFF AND I CAN'T RECORD MY WHOLE SAMPLE???????????????....HELP

aight 1st off... check your record gain... make sure you got the signal right 2 the end... i dont hurt if you make it peak slightly...

make sure record time is moved 2 the max... if it's a stock mpc... you need memory.. and that can be your problemm you may not have enuff sample time...

now after you sample you must go to the trim page... and cut the sample 2 right where it starts.. this will make it so when you press the pad you assigned it 2.. it will play exactly when touched...

now the mpc by default start at 4/4 which is the norm for hip hop... rnb.. and pop..
so don't sweat that..

ggod looks, yeah im gonna try doin this....hopefully it will help.....got fully load memory...and a zip with my walkman attached as the cd player....getting a midi keyboard...have a decent setup...just gotta learn the ropes....thanks 4 ur help...i'll holla at u later
