You know when your choppin shit up on the MPC... and it selects the zones for you... and you just click slice... is there anyway I can do that in adobe or cool edit... cos i'm tired of having to select every single thing every time... i might just go back to the MPC cos i'm gettin sick of this...

LOL yea zoning is GREAT man, it can chop a sample for u , U can choose from 2 to 16 pieces. ALso you can go in an adjust the lenght of each "zone" which allows for great flexabilitity. Once the sample is chopped you can assigen it to you pads and play the pieces in differnt oders and come up with your own shit

Thats one of the most powerful features of the MPC period. I dont think its lazy casue u still have to find a sample, and you still have to edit the zones so they fit toghter, but it definaly helps you work faster

There is a way to do that in adobe audition.
Load up your break or whatever sample, go to Edit->Auto Cue->Find Beats and Mark in the menu. A little dialog pops up, usually the default setting is good. hit ok, and you will have a bunch of little red arrows at the top and labels, and vertical lines in the sample, most of the time these are set up about right, but just go ahead and zoom in and simply move a few of the markers if needed. Now go to Window->Cue List. You will see all your cues in this list. select all the cues in this list (use shift) and hit merge. if you want to add a cue select the exact slice you want in your sample, go back to the cue list, and hit add. You can edit it further in the cue list (give it a name etc.). To remove a cue just double click on of the red arrows on top and hit del in the cue list. Now, if you are satisfied with the way your cues are marked up, go back to the cue list, select all the cues in the list again, and hit Batch. A dialog comes up, just set it to to save to file, set up a filename prefix (it will make a file out of each little slice), a destination folder, hit ok, and viola, you now have new individual hit samples from your break.

Peace
