You called yamaha for mpc support ?

How screwed is that lol!

hehe, I dunno for mpc 1k, but set drum1 to midi in your mainscreen ( probably down left corner ). So, not drum1 to 4 followed by a midi chnl.

U weren’t specific but im assuming you having problems recording different tracks and sounds with your sound module.
You can only play one sound at a time right?

Well when I got my motif rack last week I had the same problem. Check this thread.
https://www.illmuzik.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5659&highlight=recive+channels

Are the MIDI receive channels on your module set to receive on the right number. Because when i got my motif the midi default midi receive channels were all fucked up

(If u don’t know what a receive channel is its what allows you to play multiple tracks with your sound module)

As u already know u can have up to 16 channels on each cable

so it should look like this

MIDI out A
MPC MIDI 1A-device01 -->module MIDI receive channel 1
MPC MIDI 2A-device02 -->module MIDI receive channel 2
.....etc
MPC MIDI 16A-device016 -->module MIDI receive channel 16

The same is for the B channels The MPC 2000xl can have up to 32 channels it has 2 MIDI outs. I don’t know how many the MPC 1000 has but it should be set up exactly the same
MIDI out B (optional just to show how it works)
MPC MIDI 17B –device17-->module MIDI receive channel 17
..etc up to 32 since each cable can hold 16

Now here is were the problem was with the MOTIF when I got it out the box (I think its your problem also)

MPC MIDI 1A –device01  module receive channel 7
MPC MIDI 2A-device 02 ->module receive channel 6

So when I would try to play different things since the channels were mixed I would get no sound casue channel six wasent set

Look in your module manual and see how to set the channels. Evey module has this
Also join the forum for your module and do a seach. That was they way I fixed my problem. Its real easy to do once u firgure out where everything is.

Sounds like the chain is incomplete I don’t know if u were typing fast but u should finish the connection
Ex my set up

MPC MIDI OUT
module MIDI IN

Module MIDI THRU
Controller MIDI IN

Controller MIDI OUT
MPC MIDI IN

This is how I have mine set up. It’s a complete daisy chain. I can control the both the MPC and the sound module from my MIDI controller

Hope this helps

Good luck
