I dont even use an MPC (yet) but if you love the SOUND of the 3000 better, then you should got w/ that.

cause it's the beat that matters not the equipment.

i'd have to go with the 3000 because the 2500 doesn't have a note repeat. that mess threw me off. it's 2006, how you going to remove an item that's been on the machine for years. that messed my head up when i read about it. i mean, it's a dope machine from what i hear. basically the same set up with a few different features here and there, but why take away the note repeat. it makes no sense...i'm glad i got my 2kxl and my 4k, they do me justice...i mean, it's all about what you're comfortable with...the choice is yours fam...

it was a couple dumb 2500 reviews in magazines I cant remember which ones, but they stated that it didnt have note repeat or shift timing and it has both

thats what they get when they have people who probably never used an MPC doing reviews on the gear

and its funny cuz with note repeat the button is big as day right under the q-links, the shift timing is in another screen which may make it harder to find

and whats even doper about the note repeat on the 2500 is that you can hold it or press shift and it automatically holds, and you can switch between 8th, 16th notes, etc. all while recording

okay, okay, so i read the mess in a magazine. (i apologize) not like i really need to explain myself to anybody, but i'll be the bigger man and apologize before this thread turns into a "who reads reviews and listens to them" thread...be easy...

its nothing wrong with reading and listening to reviews

just make sure they are accurate before you stick ur neck out and cosign them, for this reason alone

there is a good lesson to be learned here

cool, cool "fist". anyway "j kieyz", it's all on what you're comfortable with. try going to "guitar center" or your local pro audio store and having one of those dudes give you a little demostration on what the 2500 can do. that's what they get paid for. mess with it a little bit on your own. as far as the 3k goes, i guess find someone that owns one and mess with it a little. i guess it will all fall on the features and what you're willing to spend...

what is it about the sound of the 3000 that you like so much that the 2500 doesnt have?

remember u can always degrade sound if needed

yep, i do it with the 4k all the time...so i guess to make a long story short, shoot for the 2500. if you go for the 3k, the average price i've seen it for was like $1400 and you know it's used. not to take away from the 3k, it's still a beast. but heck, if you have to pay the full $2000 for the mpc 2500, at least you'll know it's brand new. plus, like "fist" said, you can change the "bits" if you'd like, so you can still get that similar sound. things like that are worth the dough fam. but it's still on you and your preference. i hope i helped a little bit...

Ok look this is easy LOL, I had a 3000, and a 2000 (no xl) and both were very similiar, my screen started going out on the 3000 and the scsi went out, in between I copped the 1000 and let me tell you I was really liking the 1000 for the new features and usb capabilities, I demo'd the 2500 and yes its a no brainer for me "2500" is what I would cop, but I have seen a lot of people selling their 2500's recently i dont know what thats about though.

people thinking that because they buy a machine that they're gonna make hot beats, then they wake up to reality and want their money back

i think the 2500 would be a better choice because of the simple but ingenious USB connectivity. if you have a computer you're gonna appreciate the 2500 usb also i heard the 2500 has a cool chopping feature. really i would get both of them if i could so i guess it really comes down to you're finances
