Is there a way to use 2 different programs in the same sequence on the MPC 2000XL?

put all your different instruments on their own track.

then change the "DRUM" on the MAIN SCREEN to select which program you want to use for which track.

you can use up to 4 programs at a time. just go to prog:drum1,2,3 or 04.

...but can I use, say, a snare from Drum 1 and a Kick from Drum 2 in the same sequence?

attach a midi keyboard and assign your sounds to the keys to trigger them in the sequence at the same time..

i would just overdub tho.. i like the pads

u can pretty much say read the manual about anything cuz everything comes with a manual and technically anything that you would ever want to do is written somewhere in a manual

The BEST answer to your question is Machine. You should get enough resale value out of the mpc2kxl to buy one.
