mpc 2000 vs midi keyboard

ill o.g.
hey guys new to the forum and new to producing aswell, i'm very interested in producing some hip hop beats, but only oldschool beats so i'l be using alot of sampling, and i want to do it withought using a computer, i have 2 turntables and a mixer so ive been scratching and i wanted to get a mpc to start producing some classic beats. ive been checking out the akai's and their pretty expensive compared to midi's but do they do the same thing? basically can a mpc 2000 do the same thing as a midi keyboard, like looping/sampling

can a midi do this type of stuff?

on music123.com they have both so for a midi i chose this

for a mpc i chose this, but im also considering the akai mpc2000

so can anyone help me out, thanks

2500 RuLEZ!!!!

Im going to ban myself in a sec for saying that over and over.

YEah dude, an mpc will def loop/sample, thats what they were made for, when it comes to getting an mpc, guess which one I'd recommend?? Thats right! a 2500!!
Its cuz I have one and there doesnt seem to be many others arounf here with one..lol

Do NOT get the mpc you have a link to up there.. Thats not gonna do what you want at all.
If you are bound and determined to get an mpc and NOT a 2500 I then recommend the 1000, then the 2000XL.

That keyboard tho small shoul dbe ok to start out with.

you cant use a midikeyboard without a computer or other midi complient hardware. midi is a control signal that triggers controls or sounds of another device. f.e. you press a key on it and it makes your mpc or your software sampler play a certain sound.
what you can have is a sampler with keys, like the asr-10. either that or the mpc.

but the art of production is changing rapidly recently. you can achieve the same thing an mpc does with a pad based midicontroller (like this one:http://www.maketunes.com/articles/akai-mpd24-midi-pad-controller-review) + software (cubase/battery f.e.) and even work much faster.
another nice device is akais new mpk49. its pads and keys in one;

i think you you can't use a midi controller without other midi complient hardware, if it has a sequencer and synth bank and it is a sampler, then yes you can use a regular keyboard

go for the mpc or as mono said the keyboard with keys and pads, pads will be better for sampling, its a pain in the ass hitting notes on the keyboard for different samples versus pads
