In the next 4 years I will be most likely moving to Canada but I'd like to know some good cities to choose. I do not speak French so that would be an issue, any suggestions?

I've lived in Oklahoma my entire life and need to get out before I begin to settle here.. It's the reason I spend all my time at home smoking herbs or drinking.. I need a interesting open-minded community, an not in the san fransisco open-minded way haha, In Oklahoma people are fucked up and recently crime has skyrocketed, So as i'm reading searches about the various Provinces I thought i'd be a good idea to ask the Canadian heads here what'sup

I was thinking about Canada because I had friends who have lived there and compared to where I live it sounds great. I didn't really consider US because I wouldn't know where to move.. I'd like to live in a chilled community where people got along and respected each other, in a situation like that I would enjoy life more an could raise a family. Where I live if you do not play the role of who society thinks you should be from your race ect.. then your not respected by pretty much any race. People here are hillbilly's here for the most part: hillbilly's, religous nuts that don't see shit, and a whole spectrum of people who get caught up in the bullshit and give up.. society is fucked. I see huge parts of socety suffering from such basic shit and i'd like to get away from these fools. Where would you suggest?

@Classic, you obviously haven't seen the French whores in MTL! Woooo.....

@Chrono, how are you going to be allowed in? Just curious. If you do come here, stay away from Montreal or anywhere in Quebec because of the language issue alone. Plus here we have higher taxes and it seems like everything is done twice here because of the language. Ontario is cool, but lots of times stuff is more expensive than Quebec. Plus there's the whole weather issue, going from Oklahoma to Canada? Can you handle the harsh winters?

we have had harsh winters before dipping to -7 although I know Canada get's much lower.. my idea for Canada is still early, i'm researching to figure out whats best for me.
another reason for Canada is because if the American Government is corrupted from within then they will get another fucked Republican elected as president and that is representation that does not represent me at all. I just filed for a voting card last week and will vote from here on out so I can have the right to my opinion. I love America; but it's leaders are a direct reflection of the views of the people so if leaders are elected secretly and plots to elect them are triggered than this isn't a Democracy anymore, it would be an Elitist society.

I'm not trippin over that so I hope people don't get off topic, I just want to raise a family one of these days and need a safe place for my generetions to grow into the future.

man i dont know, i think u need to be realstic, there are plenty of places like that in the states, also u gotta t hink how ur gonna earn a living etc espically if ur not going to school there... To each his own i guess....

i'm reasearching now, if I move it will be because I was able to transfer my schooling from TCC to something in Canada, able to find a job, and citizenship. That's after i've decided on my major and taken that into consideration. I'm moving someplace, and still am in the very early stages so where do you suggest in the states?

want someplace safe with plenty of culture for my children, and where safe doesn't equal the rich neighborhoods.. i just want a peaceful balance. and a state where possesion of marijuana wasn't a crime would be a nice benefit, smoking regularly is not in the plan but I would like the option. oklahoma is brainwashed, not dangerous but very much segregated.. people are extremly culturally stand-offish

Minus 7?... that's warm, bro.... try minus 30...

And the criminality in the T dot (toronto) is skyrocketing, from what I hear in the news... Dont move to Quebec if you dont speak french (even if you could learn), but, MAAAAAAAAAN! the girls here are fly for real.

Not to look like I'm selling my city, buuuuuut...

and a lil description from askmen.com...

From its bountiful stable of strip joints (widely ranked among the wildest in North America) to its roaring bar scenes on Crescent Street and Saint-Laurent Boulevard, Montreal is unquestionably Canada's good-time city. But though it might be hard to tell after a tray of Jagermeister shots and three lap dances, there's more to Montreal than debauchery.

Montreal is home to several great, unique festivals (especially during the summer), including the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal -- a massive gathering of international jazz talent -- and Just for Laughs, an influx of both "yet to be discovered" and renowned comedians that routinely draws stars like Bill Cosby and Bill Maher to headline. Montreal has an insane amount of great restaurants, but perhaps best-known is Schwartz's, a Jewish-style deli (in fact, the oldest deli in Canada) known for its skyscraping smoked meat sandwiches. And don't forget to check out Mount Royal, a mountain situated right in the middle of the city, as well as the Old Port, which is located in Old Montreal and is the spot where tourists and locals flock to catch outdoor performers and plenty of summertime action.

Must-see: The Bell Centre (formerly known as the Molson Centre) is no Forum, but Montreal is still the best place in the world to watch hockey. Despite the blatherings of Torontonians, no city loves the sport as much.

and

as for Tdot

ans what they say about it...

Contrary to what many of its inhabitants may assume, Toronto is not located in the center of the universe. Though such extreme pride drives the rest of Canada batty, the T-Dot has justification for its egoism, primarily for managing the tricky feat of being both a prime bastion of cultural Anglophilia and one of the most diverse cities in the world.

Short on sights -- unless scaling the CN Tower to peer down through the haze excites you -- Toronto is rich in activity. Peruse artifacts at the Royal Ontario Museum or get your pic taken with the Stanley Cup at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Food possibilities are endless, but adventurous types can sample the pricey tasting menu at Susur. The nightlife is a delight for picky scenesters -- choose between boho alt-rock bars on Queen Street, suburbanite clubs on Richmond Street, or pass yourself off among the snooty parade of fake boobs and hair plugs in uber-wealthy Yorkville.

Must-see: The Toronto International Film Festival, which takes place annually for about 10 days in September, is a massive event, with independent documentaries about bisexual raccoons in East Timor sharing marquees with world premiere May-December romances starring Ben Affleck and Cher. Laugh if you will at these absurd (but, disturbingly, not unfathomable) possibilities -- the bewildering variety is a film buff's delight.

I mean that can be anytown USA

Not to sound harsh but alot of the stuff your talking about are idealistic views, i mean seriously man i understand u wanna get out ur home and grow, thats natural. But before you make such a drastic life changing move u should experince stuff outside of oklahoma and get a feel for whats "really" going down around the world, once u see that you will understand that american aint that bad(seriously)

The U.S is a big country and i gurantee u can find everything ur looking for... you just gotta research, as far as specific's i cant really tell u casue i dont know....

Yea we got issues here but man there are issues anywhere, canada may seem cool on the surface but once u get their u will reslise same story differnt place....Not to mention the cultural conflict ur gonna be dealing with

sYgMa: Thanks for all the great information! very helpful insight

Classic: I toured as a kid via taikwondo tournaments from 8-12 throughout my neighboring states and have stayed in Ocala Florida (age14) for a summer and lived in Japan for a month and 19 days(age15). Japan was a huge eye opener because it was so vividly different than anywhere I have been before. My views are idealistic because I am tossing around possible ideas for myself. I know I have to move out of Oklahoma within the next 4 years and Canada is a possible choice, but thanks to sYgMa's helpful post I am starting to get a better idea of the situation in Canada. Before I do anything or even buy anything over 20 bucks I research it and give myself plenty of time to decide if that is what I really want. My opinion's on America are kinda fucked though because I do live in a very segregated state and all races here are affected by it. The way I see it is I want to move to a big city enviroment for the culture and people but I know the states have large crime rates in big cities and I don't want to settle with kids in dangerous enviroments. Canada is an obvious close alternative. Class you've traveled alot, given my statements where would you suggest within America and outside of America?

thanks everyone for your time

Hmm I was in the Opposite Situation as you Chrono Basically wanting to Move 2 the States Badly was Even Willing to Pay 4k for some Illegal Documents but After Being there for 2 Months straight I can say im Glad to Be home. Although there is way more Oppurtunity in the US I couldint take many of the Ignorant Views of Many Americans not to say thats all Americans but It could of been a Case of my just Hanging around Uneducated ones I guess, but from My obeservation Americans are to self obsorbed and have a Fuck the world were the best Mentality

Anyways Canada Has its Pro's and Con's As a Young Guy which i think you are if you were gonna move anywhere I would say move to Toronto and not cuz im from there but Honestly T.O has one of the Biggest Club Scenes In the world right up there With MIA , Weed (not Haze we dont really grow that Strain here) is very Cheap and some of the best in the world, The Girls are Bangin , and Toronto is the Most Multi Cultural City in the World.

On a Bad note Toronto's Gun Violence is Getting Extremely Bad My Little brother got Shot in the Foot By 4 Pussies that Tried 2 Rob him for a 5 piece last Fall (i duno why he tried to fight 4 people over a Finn)and there was like 60 Guns Murders here in 2005 as oppose to like 40 in 2004

BC is Great if your a Weed Lover I havent been there from Wat My Cousin told me it would be something Like Cali.

Anyways Good Luck If you Move Here I hope you Like Hockey lol

Yeah but then again, you say you want something nice for your family, so are you really looking at a big city like T.O.? You should look at smaller cities outside of places like T.O. Not to bash Toronto, but everyone that visits Canada makes it seem like it's the best fuckin city on the planet. Who cares if they have hot women, amazing clubs, or good weed, if you're looking to raise a family in a good spot, there's plenty of cities in Canada that are much better.

Again, stay away from Quebec LOL.

Opportunity is a huge reason i'm moving. Oklahoma compared to the rest of the US is a joke, so i could see myself finding a place in the states. What I want to look into is the general perspective of the populous in Canada though, like Campo said a lot of people here have iggnorant beliefs.. but i'm sure that's everywhere. hey do they have Hostiles in Canada? I could travel there and check it out next summer

Hostiles as in Homeless Shelters ? well if thats what you mean then yea we have those. Honestly the Job Market here isint the Greatest which I find wierd for a Country that Is growing at such a Rapid Rate Its hard to find a job here one that would enjoy anyways. What kinda Employment are you seeking ?
