Can you recommend me some monitors in the $100-150 range for my home studio. I just got an iMac not too long ago so I need something that will be compatible with it. I was looking @ M-Audio StudioPro 3 and M-Audio StudioPro 4 Active Monitors.

Are there any recommendations?

I'm looking for a pair of monitors, not just one.

Those are $150 a piece everywhere I look. That would be 300 bucks and that's too high for my budget. Can you recommend me a retailer or some other brand? Also, M-Audio StudioPro 3 speakers are 2 fo $100. They got nice reviews everywhere I look. What's your opinion?

^^^^Same here, man... if you want to invest only 100$ to 150$, you'll get cheap quality... and if you want monitors, normally, it's because you want good quality... so, cheap monitors is a no no...

What kind of speakers you got on your system right now?

PS: by the way, I think all monitors are compatible with Macs or PCs...

If ur serious about ur studio, save that money up.
Under $500 u cannot get an accurately flat pair of monitors.
Save ur money up and get the RP5's AT LEAST (RP6 for $40 extra), because with the ones u listed above, ur better listenin on computer speakers.
If u can really hold off and save up, the KRK RP8's are $500 on zZsounds, and 1 of the best u will find in that range.

although it is good saving up more for more expensive ones, it wont necessarily help you. regardless of what you buy you have to "learn" the monitors and then reference them with other things (ex: boombox, car stereo, ipod/monitor headphones) to find out how good ur music really sounds. you could mix a track on some 500 dollar monitors and then they sound shitty on someone else's...

If you have good monitors, they shouldn't sound shitty on someone's else, except if those are shitty...

Guys I'm thinkin about buying E-MU PM5's. They're $200 for a pair of floor models. Are thes good monitors or am I making a mistake? Please let me know ASAP, I have this on hold for me 'til end of the day. Thanks.

The PM-5 are recommendable. The only thing is that you need it make a calibration, that is define their caracteristics by listening to various albums and tracks for reference (sorry if my english is not real good). Once that's done, no doubt that it will give you a clear and untiring sound, given that you check the medium lows that are not that clear...

Plus:
- Good sound for that price.
- Good stereo rendering.
- None tiring to the ear.
- Bass are precise and very clear.
- Hi Freqs and soft and crisp at the same time (easy to analyse)

Minus:
- Medium low freq are not that clear (and that's where you get the muddy sound...) which could be misleading in a mix
- Lows are not loud that they should and suffering from a lack of support from the mid lows for coloration...
