mixing vocals

i was experimenting a bit lately and found a nice trick.
i use cubase surround pan tool to spread the vocals in the mix, makes them appear to be comming from everywhere rather than sitting in front of the beat. this, combined with a slight delay (mod delay, 1% wet), gives me fantastic results.

any reasons why i shouldnt be doing this?

If you like it and it works for your taste no one should be giving you reasons why NOT to do it! Check it in mono and if the vocals are not completely lost I say go with it! If you lose most your vocals in mono of course you'd have to work them back into the middle some.
