first off i will tell you what i have and what has worked.

roland vs1680
roland mc505
akai mpc2000
sta audio/hoontech adc&dac2000
nuendo3.2

i currnetly have the 1680 sending midi clock to the 505 (which only transmits midi clock). then the 505 sending midi clock to the mpc.. works flawless

i have had all of them sync up before, not perfectly but at least i had all of them talking to each other.
i had to reformat my comp and now i cant get nuendo to receive or transmitt midi clock or mtc.

can the mpc 2000 receive midi clock while transmitting mtc?

thanks

i have all the machines talking now. midi clock into the mpc. and the mpc sending mtc to nuendo.
but now there is a lag from when the hardware starts and nuendo kicks in. i usually put my snares at a typikal 2 and 4. but with nuendo lagging they seem to be on the 1 and 3, not even religously. so the begging second or so of my song is not going to get recordeed.
i tryed playing with the preroll but im not experienced enough to really know how to apply this.
am i still having a sync problem, and what can i do to get this lag problem fixed.....
thanks in advance.

i tried putting the tracks from my hardware into the comp today and it was funny. the mtc says 30 locked and it acts like everything is recording fine, "BUT" when i play back the tracks everything is jacked up. the vocal track and my sample loop that are in my VS1680 seemed to be ok, time wise.
the drum machine was a different story the timing seems to be a bit random, shit was off a bit to the left on some tracks and to the right on others. i thought if i had the MTC locked and starting when i hit play everything should be fine. "DOES ANYBODY IN HERE USE NUENDO 3.2 AND HARDWARE TOGETHER?"
someone please help........!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roland VS1680 -- midi clock to
Roland MC505 -- midi clock to
Akai MPC2000 -- midi time code to
sta audio ADC&DAC2000 (soundcard)
Nuendo 3.2 -- recieving MTC --end

ok today is a different story. heres what the sync chain looks like now.

sta audio ADC&DAC2000 / Nuendo 3.2 (master) out 1 sending midi clock to Roland MC505
out 2 sending MTC Akai MPC2000
in 1 receiving MTC from Akai MPC2000

Akai MPC2000 - out A sending MTC back to nuendo
out B sending MTC to Roland VS1680
in 1 receivinf MTC from nuendo
in 2 receiving MTC from Roland VS1680

Roland VS1680 - Slave
Roland MC505 - Slave

This works! but there is a little problem which i know there has to be a setting to fix.
when i hit play on nuendo the MPC and 505 start right away. Now the VS1680 takes about 3 bars then kicks in. so im going to miss the very begining. everything seems to be in sync. but the start-up is what the problem is now.

my question is what kind of setting (?for the terminology?) can i set to get the midi sync data rolling then start the recoding at the begining instead of a bit into the song. im figuring that its taking a few seconds for the MTC to lock then its golden. what way around this should i be taking?

......thanks...........

slide the whole entire track back 3 to 5 bars to give it some lead in time. that should solve that dilema. you always need lead in time no matter if it's analog or digital. Especially with so many thinks link'd!

ok for anybody that reads this,, i will let you know how i fixed this problem.... it was way simpler than i was expecting the problem to be... ok,, when using MTC you have to have a send as well as a return on your MTC (midi time code) cables.. you would normally think that if you have everything synced up and you hit play on your master device that everything should start playing right!! wrong,,, on the other devices besides your master device, you have to press play on these slave devices... it will not play but say something like waiting for time code.. then when you hit play on your master device the others play in sync.. a key note !!! try not to record or do anything thats crucial in the first few seconds of getting your set-up first synced up. it usually takes a few seconds for everything to lock up. after everything is locked up (timing wise) then do all the things that your immagination will allow you..........
