you WONT hear the sounds out of the mpc. You can sequence whatever and record the data in the mpc so when you press play on it the keyboard will play it along with the drums and whatever samples you got sequenced in the mpc. if you dont have a mixer youll need one to combine both sound sources..and if you dont have any midi cables youll need 2.

1st you have to hook your midi cables from the keyboard to the mpc, midi in to midi out and vice versa. then set your mpc up to receive midi, then choose a midi channel to record on. now you have to hook the outputs of the keyboard up to speakers somehow as well as the mpc, cause like mark said the midi sounds won`t play through the mpc.

if the keyboard has no outputs then you will be better off recording your midi tracks on a computer based program, cubase sx, cool edit, ect. but if it do have outputs then there is no reason why you shouldn`t be able to record on multiple channels on the mpc providing you set it up right.

r we talkin midi out puts or audio outputs , i dont see why u wouldnt be able to use it if it had no audio outputs ,so u cant triger samples from an mpc with a midi keyboard and actually hear the samples that your triggering?

wu you make ish more complicated than it is....

what if the keyboard is strictly midi and has no outputs

then it would just be a controller. inconeeto said his keyboard had 500 sounds so it must have audio outputs, he just needs a mixer to combine the mpc and the keyboard so everything comes out the speakers as one.

incogneeto.. they have this lil yahama jump off for like 100 in sam ash and its pretty good, forget the name but its blue. or if you got a dj mixer you can use that also, thats what i was doing when i started off.

as far as laying different midi tracks you just have to pick the midi channels depending on what kind of keyboard you have. on the mpc where you pick your drum program just move the cursor and pick midi, then 1a,2a,3a it goes to 16 and the you start at 1b but thats if you have another keyboard or module.

duke said he got a midi keyboard with 500 sounds ,midi keyboards dont usually gut sound and when they do its not as many as 500 from what i know,so i was assumin he got 500 samples on disks that he plans on sequencing with that keyboard guy,is that cool
