Microhone Volume Troubles

aite i just got a mic..and i plugged it in..its recording fine jut its MAD quiet...i turned on mic boost...i turned the volume up full in cool edit "Windows recording mixer" i also turned it up in the other spot...whut could be wrong? it works fine at my homies but i duno? how can i fix this

Just a quick one, is it a condenser mic, cause in that case you'll need some phantom power or a power pack to get the volume up

Yea, it could be that you need phantom power or you might need a new Mic cable. Try havin somebody talki into the mic while recording, while you tap the mic cable, see if it goes in and out.

I used to have that problem, it takes a while workin with mics before you can understand all that.

Yea, you'll probably need a mixer with a phantom power switch. My dumbass bought a mic a while ago and didn't realize i needed something to power it. It happens but more than likely thats the problem. You'll probably need a mixer to get it to work right. Or a soundcard that had phantom power.
