Yeah that movie looks good, and I'm glad they're promoting the fact that there's no FX, wires, etc. Hopefully that will force other martial arts action stars to do the same.

Yeah I've seen it too. The fighting is tight, but the story is not all that great. Kinda had the same wackness that rumble in the bronx had, but with more serious fighting. Homes go crazy with the elbow and the knee. He has definately brought some new tricks with him.

saw it a year ago actually... bootleg of course, But I had to see it on the big screen!! I like that old school thai boxing style he uses... real different from Bruce Lee or Jet Li...

BTW... I know it's a movie and all, but who would win in a fight... Bruce Lee, Jet Li, or Tony Jaa.... I had that talk with friends, and I was the only one saying Jaa would wipe there asses clean...

Yeah I saw that movie, it was real good. But It annoyed me that the guy was never hitting someone in the face, always on the head or back of the head, and sometime he was doing the same elbow move or knee moves.

sYgMa I don't think any of them would beat Bruce. Bruce trained harder and was a pioneer. His style wasn't about style, it was a science of combat. In Enter the Dragon when Bruce kicked the Guy in the head in the last fight scene, they said Bruce moved so fast that he skipped frames being captured by the camera, that's 30 frames per second. Offcourse he didn't kick the guy forreal, it was a dummy prop, if it had been a person, they'd probably be dead. You just can't compare these newbies with fighter that was 27 years ahead of his time and counting. I got a video demostration that Bruce Lee did on tape and he moved so fast you wouldn't believe it. Bruce Lee slowed down for the moves, he's rawer than you think.

Word, Bruce Lee did have to slow himself down for the camera. That's fast! The one-inch punch demonstration is a classic. He could definitely break anyone's bones easily. His Jeet Kune Do philosophy streamlined fighting. He was amazing. I HIGHLY doubt anyone since could take him in a one-on-one fight.

Check these:

Damn!

Bruce Lee's One-Inch Power Punch
http://kajukenbo.info/kajukenbo/kd_punch.html

This looks longer than one inch, but I think he first holds his fingers straight, then makes a fist, then pulls back one inch before punching. Watch how he shifts his weight. No matter what the distance is, he's still powerful for being a small man.

I saw all those, guys... I know of Bruce Lee's speed, but I also know for a fact that Tony Jaa is a kick boxer, and kick boxing is not to be messed with either. Kung Fu got real popular with those kung fu movies, but...

When Jet Li "invented" the Jet Kun Do, he was inspired by Karate, which revolve around putting the emphasis on strenght and speed instead of fanciness. He wanted to have a fighting style that would be a plain fighting style.

Actually Muay Thai Boxing is exactly that. It's power and endurance at it's peek! I don't know if you guys already saw a real Thai boxing match, but that shit is real. And I really don't think Bruce, even if he's a legend, would be able to beat a thai boxer that easily, that is, IF he can beat him.

First off, Bruce Lee created Jeet Kune Do, not Jet Li. Bruce Lee's main point (from what I understood) was "don't let your opponent know when you're gonna strike and when you do strike, do it efficiently." I practiced Muay Thai for a couple of years and must say that the kicks and elbows hurt even through the padding. Those peeps could have broken my legs instantly. However, I still believe Bruce Lee could take any Muay Thai fighter, anyday. Bruce Lee was the fastest of all fighters.

Peace,

that was a typo, of couse...

As for Jeet Kune Do, Bruce Lee's real purpose was not to create a style. He wanted to make people realise that, in a fight, you cant predict what's gonna happen, and, for that reason, a martial artist should not work on predetermined move, styles, stance, etc... he should work on being efficient, so he can be able to defend himself (which is the true purpose of a martial artist)...

Yeah, Bruce Lee was fast (the fastest?, that, would have to be checked), but a fight is not only about speed. It's also about power, stamina and hit endurance... is it SOOO obvious that Bruce is better than Tony in all those? I'd doubt. I know the 1 inch punch is sick because of the weight shifting it requires, but a muay thai knee requires the same thing... and a knee is way more powerful than a punch.

And muay thai fighters are used to recieve knees... so they have hit endurance... could bruce reciieve one muay thai knee. It's not soooo obvious, even if he's a legend and people adore him.

I see your point about kickboxers being conditioned to take hard hits for long periods of time.

I'm gonna definitely check the movie.
