Looking For Some Help

Hey there,
I've just recently signed up too this forum after looking for hours. I've been really interested in producing music recently and decided to download FL. I've been messing around with some instruments and made 2 trap beats but they're pretty shitty. Basically, I'm here to ask if anyone can lead me in the direction of a couple of things,
I'm looking for a good place to find a pack filled with either: Trap, Dirty South or just Hip Hop samples, loops etc.
Thanks!

I guess the one redeeming feature of trap (I'm not a fan) from a sampling POV is that it tends to have a fair amount of space in the mix... You should be able to grab some single-hit samples fairly easily. It's just gonna be time consuming.
If you're not comfortable doing this within your DAW then check out Audacity (or similar). It's free and you can export your edits/cuts/hits as WAV files...

I make pretty straightforward BoomBap but I kinda cheat - my drums are all NI sounds (got Maschine). The kits I use are a mash-up of sounds from different expansion packs...
My kick is made up of 3 separate kick sounds layered on top of each other. Each is EQ'd, compressed and 'verbed as appropriate to the track I'm working.
Similar deal with my snare/clap. Although I've recently started layering a ride cymbal (panned wide) in with my kick which I wouldn't do with a snare.

I don't layer my hi-hats. Just pick sounds that are appropriate to the sample - Usually 3 (closed, open, more-open) unless the sample I'm flipping has prominent hats of its own - then I just use an open hat sample.

My drum workflow is as quick as I can get away with (and getting quicker) as I prefer to spend time chopping and flipping a sample rather than programming overly intricate beats. Thanks be to the gods of rhythm for pad controllers!

If you want to get the mainsteam trap sound most producers first starting off use the kits from http://www.freedrumkits.net/

Just because they are free it doesnt mean they are bad. Its helpful that the kits are labeled by the producer they emulate so if you want to make a "young chop" beat or or something that snare is easy to find. I recommend downloading the lex luger soundfonts also, there is a ton of orch, string, and bell sounds in there as well as all the patches from one of the old school proteus romplers so u will be set on sounds as well. Have fun!
