Line in on Vista laptop not working

My mic jack, or line in on my toshiba satellite laptop with Win Vista isnt workin. Ive tried 2-3 diff cheap "Karoke" mics, my Ipod, My Turn table, Everything, And i cant get any play back sound, Nor record in windows recorder, nor audicity. It hasnt worked since i bought the computer. My onboard sound cards enabled, Mic jack aint muted, Just cant figure out the problem. I can't sample sounds from on-board either using Audicty [Example: recording sounds from video's, internet sites, ect..] the drop down menu where u can normally select line in, ect in audicity isnt accessable neither..

Anyone got any idea's, or reccomendations?

dunno how itd be a virus causing it, its done it since the minute i bought my laptop. but no i havent ran a virus scan in a few weeks.

and ive tried everything in control panel i could think of.
